I have upgraded my iphone 4s from 5.0.1 to 5.1. I can significantly notice that the ringtone volume is much lower than before with IOS 5.0.1 installed. Of course I set the same volume level at the same place before and after I upgraded to IOS 5.1.

Also did some sound testing today and it seems to me that the equalizer is not quite the same either. Checked it out on my 4s and compared to my iPod Classic, and mybife's iPhone 4, all three set on rock, the difference was also easy to hear. Sounds like they did some serious tinkering with this update. Hope everyone is reporting as myself and ckh98258 have!

Hey Apple,
Even myself also facing the issue(Audio is very low) after upgraded my OS version to 5.1 from 5.0.1. I'm a IOS family using all the IOS products, but this makes me irritating and frustrating. Whenever i drive my bike before OS upgradation it was awesome , but now its reduce. Hope apple will resolve this issue and will release 5.1.1 soon.

Greetings Folks........Aha.....maybe the reason why apple didn't comeout with a fix for the low volume bug is because all you just had to do was to have a reset , which my ipod touch 4g had this iOS 5.1 volume issue.so i went and tried this out : go to Settings->general->reset->reset all settings, and this solved that low volume problem.I hope this would be a permanent solution. FYI 🙂
I've tried the reset all settings with no luck (on the 4S) but maybe for the iPod it works?? This is still an issues that needs to be addressed.
I wish it was that easy. Did all the resets possible and the result is still the same. Even went to the Apple Store where they did a reset that only they can apparently do, no dice, same stuff. I have been hearing a lot more people complain and the only way for those affected to get it fixed is as we've said before. Report it! Follow link. Unfortunately no fix as of yet, unless you invest in a hearing aid!!

@louconley. 5.0.1 personally didn't give me any problems. (4s). 5.1 was the bug pain.
Volume is much lower after upgrading my 4s to IOS 5.1???
