New iPad overheating?

Just got my new iPad. I'm loving the screen and speed but there's something weird about it. It gets rather warm/hot after 30minutes of usage. It has never happened on my iPad 2.

Do you think it's harmless or .... ?

People: make sure you include info about which iPad you have. LTE? Wifi only? Details matter. And, really now, "frying eggs?"

The brightness most definietly is causing these heat issues. Played Air Surpremacy again, at full brightness, and did get pretty warm. Not hot! I only played a quick match that lasted 10 minutes, and got warm. Plus, I lost about 10% of my battery, while playing only a 10 minute match. So, keep your brightness down a bit, and see if that helps. It is still unfortunate that we cannot use it at full brightness, without it getting hot. Oh well... The screen is so amazing, that I'll stick with it, even if it does get warm.

I mean, as long as you have a case on, your alright.

It would be nice if Apple gave use free back casings, to clear up the problem... Or, hopefully a quick update to the iOS!

Peace!

BeersYourFriend. I think the reset and battery drain helped mine. It still gets pretty warm but only when playing Real Racing or other graphic intense games. Not like day one. Day one it was hot even when browsing the web. Uncomfortably hot. And no it wasn't doing a backup or restore or anything like that. I was real close to sending it back (put it back in the box close). The warmth seems bearable now. I might get a case for it and call it good. As long as the case doesn't cause it to melt down.

Just opened my iPad and set up 30 minutes ago. And it's is indeed HOT compared to my friend's iPad 2 right beside it, bottom left corner like everyone else. Just a little bit of Facebook, Youtube and lest than 15 minutes on Safari and it made me uncomfortable when putting on my bare left arm. On Standby now, and it has cooled off completely. This is indeed worrying. And I have yet to tried out any games 😟

UPDATE: Just returned my New ipad back to Walmart, the excessive heat would not stop! It was getting really hot during HD games!! As well, the wall plug was getting real hot when charging! The Walmart manager said the whole lot they recieved on March 16th have all been returned by the customers because of over heating and getting HOT!! Well there you go, its obvious this is a serious issue! Good-Luck everyone!

The reason for the heat is that when one loads up the New Ipad the apps load and LOCATION SERVICES is

turned on. So I loaded my new Ipad from a restore off my Ipad2 and then had 55 apps installed , ALL ON.

The fix: Go to Settings/location services and turn off every app except maps and find my ipad and the heat will go away.

But Wait, there is another fix you need. Double click on your home button which will open the multi tasking bar and you will find every app running in the background,(because they were just loaded. Hold down any icon and

they will jiggle with a minus sign in a red area. . hit that to delete them , one by one. All of them!

Don't worry, they are still there and 3 things will happen. Your Ipad will run cool, run fast , and the battery life will increase remarkably. I did this and now get 11 hours, a cool Ipad. Good Luck.

PS I hope someone in Apple reads this and goes public with it, because there is no hardware issue or even

software one. Its just a learning curve for a new product.

I always close all apps like this on my iDevices -- this is not a new feature -- and have had locations disabled since initial setup, and mine still gets hot...

The battery drain does seem to help a small amount (maybe placebo, not sure), and I will try to do it many more times before 2 weeks is up and report back.

The heat is caused by having all your apps on at the same time and you dont know it. Go Settings / locations services / and shut off all except findmy Ipad, maps stuff and any important app that need your location.

Image your house with all the lights, heat and TV on . Check the meter and you will find its warm too.

Now shut off what you don't need and you will ahve a cool fast Ipad. I dis and I have great battery life as well.
