Hi, I have the new iPad 4G on orange and the personal hotspot feature seems to be missing, I have read that this is down to the carrier so which uk networks support this feature?

That's me in trouble! Apple you do clearly clearly advertise this feature on your Uk site and, as of yet, this feature is unavailble in the uk. You can't try and hide this by deleting my post

@Gavin – Apple haven’t made this function available yet, when it does we plan to support it
@jonnyb – I’ve double checked this and once the software has been released that makes the Hot Spot function available we plan to support it.
I asked asked exactly what update they are talking about, i.e. carrier setting, iOS update etc. Will note what comes back.
I have a call from Apply support scheduled tomorrow at lunch. Will update more then!
I've also posted on their bloog (as Dan) and was told the the personal hotspot feature definitely was not avalible on the iPad yet (because of apple) note that the advisor trying to sell me the iPad contract told me that tethering would work.

Apparently it's working fine on Free Network (french carrier under OrangeFR roaming)
Personal Hotspot Settings are available in : Settings > General > Network
Specific APN Settings can be added for internet Tethering under Cellular Data > APN Settings
Still not working with my Orange(FR) Plan..

Just got off the phone with Apple Support, really helpful guy. He knew exactly what I was talking about as he had many calls from people all asking the same thing (including people from Three).
In short, he is adamant that it is down to the carrier to configure the services linked to my account and sim. The iPad will hide / display the hotspot feature as dictated by these settings.
He suggested swapping to a sim that does support the hotspot however at this time I'm not aware of any in the uk. Also, he suggest resetting the network settings (data and wifi) in the Settings > General > Reset menu. (No change thought). Also he suggested connecting to iTunes to get the latest carrier updates but these are pushed over wireless on IOS 4 onwards.
I definitely feel the ball is in Three's court. It seems Three network support need to speak with senior people at Apple to understand what they need to do to activate this thing!!
I wonder how long this will take!

I would have thought that carrier settings can be rolled out more quickly than 6 weeks.
My support case with Apple is still progressing and is now with 3rd line technician.
Something odd going on here.
Someone in Australia has come up with a solution but I dont' think it works in the UK.
