iPad personal hotspot (uk)

I can confirm this now works on three, go to settings:general:about and it should popup to confirm new carrier settings 12.1 in my case, PRL 1 if you tap it.

Then goto settings:general:network and 'personal hotspot' toggle should appear above VPN. Toggle this on and the menu will be available in the left column. Thanks three (or apple) whoever enabled this feature for us!

I too confirm this works with 3UK: popped in the SIM and the settings were offered OTA. Still does not work with 3 Italia though.

Will now try 3 Ireland, Meteor and T-Mobile UK.

Confirm works with Meteor Ireland. Offers extra "Internet tethering" option.

Fab news! On tmobile uk and would love to use my new ipad to provide a hotspot! Any idea how we can get tmobile uk to release a carrer settings update!?

No such luck with T Mobile UK or 3 Italia.

Just to be clear, you need to enter the ABOUT section then a promt will appear to except carrier update.

To actrvate the personal hotspot youneed the carrier settings to have been updated, for Three it was to 12.1, which you can check in the General/About. Might b worth switching iPad off and back on again.

If it has then make sure you have a network signal and 3G is showing, I switched off WiFi so I could see if I had 3G connection.

Goto Settings/General/Network and you should see Personal Hotspot, if you do then you can turn it on and set a passcode. If will ask you to turn on wifi again.

This is exactly the same as on iPhone which is what I was expecting, shame it has taken them a month to roll it out

After update .. iPad OFF and back on again for pad to be visible to other devices.

At last, this works. So Three were lying then; it was nothing to do with apple!

Doesn't seem to work for me. I've got the new carrier update (12.1) but the personal hotspot settings don't show up anywhere. I've tried restoring too, to no avail.

Any news on tmobile uk snd the new ipad personal hotspot? Does Apple realise that they advertised the personal hotspot feature, and that I bought the ipad off them? My sim clearly works (can tether if my sim is in my phone). Please help Apple!

Any news that this might be working with Three Ireland soon, does anyone know? I still 12 PRL 1 in the About section and no options anywhere to switch this on.

Please follow below steps to enable hotspot in New iPad

( Carrier is the Data/Sim service provider)

1. Check the carrier, it should 12.1 as below

A) Setting>General>About>Carrier ..... It should be "Carrier12.0"

B) Click on "Carrier12.0", it should show "PRL 1"

2. Carrer should be 3G ..... Left hand side top corner will show that or contact with your carrier to enable it.

3. Now reset network setting as below

A) Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.... Provide the password if you have (unlock password)

B) It will reset, wait till come up.

4. Set the APN as below

A) Settings>Cellular Data>APN Settings

B) Type your carrier name in "APN" below "Cellular Data"

C) Type again carrier name in "APN" below "Internet Tethering" on same screen.

(I believe even it should work if you will type anything, but both should same or may be different.)

5. Now you will see personal hotspot in below place

A) Setting>General>Network>Personal Hotspot

6. Now switch on Hotspot and set wifi password

7. Enjoy

It work for me with Airtel (India) carrier . Do some RnD, you may omit few steps.
