Iasked several times about what a persons background is and not once did anyone ever state it. Why? Its all "apple says" and not ONE person can say what their background is?
I put the opinion of the R and D population of the world's most successful manufacturer of electronic devices way in front of your typical "a guy in a shop said that", "I have seen a couple of posts that say that", "my friends played with a charger and a stopwatch..." and other daft arguments.
I'll be the first to say it: time to stop feeding the troll.

Both of whom have joined these forums in the last two days specifically to back up your posts. I am impressed.

I know, I know. But, it's a rainy Saturday and I'm waiting for the laundry to finish.
Meg... Can't say what your background is can you? By the way I have a question since you bring up laundry and this post is a total joke and actually starting to make me laugh and sure it is giving people some good laughs. I am done explaining electronics, testing, and anything related.
My cleaning lady takes care of all our laundry here and the other stuff goes to the dry cleaners. I know their is laundry soap down by the machine and fabric softener and it makes the clothes smell really good. She told me all about fabric softener and it is not just for making the clothes smell good it has another purpose too. I am sure you are a laundry expert and know the answer, but I forget exactly what it was she told me it was really designed for. Can you refresh my memory because she won't be back here until Monday and I am curious.

My background is irrelevant as I have never claimed to be an electronics expert. I will continue to trust Apple's instructions on how to use their products over yours.
I use unscented laundry products.
Do as you wish it your device and if you chose not to say what your background is that is your choice too. I am proud of my background so I freely admit it, but if you do not want to say what yours it that is perfectly understandable as everyone is not proud of what they have to do for a living. Anyways, I actually just sent her a text and she called me and told me exactly like you said their is scented and ones with no scent in them. The two of you think exactly the same :-) I would ask you to teach me how to do laundry, but she takes care of it so really no need for me to know and really it looks like a no brainer. Do whites together with soap, softner, and bleach. Darks together and I would say do light colors together as well. Anything dry clean only has to go to the dry cleaners. Then our dryer has this big cabinet on the top you can hang stuff on or put it on these removable shelves. Which is pretty cools because if you fill the bottle up it steams the clothes and shakes them and has a tray for a fabric sheet. That part I do know because when I have to wear a suit it freshens it up and plus the instructions are right on the door.
This was her explanation to me let me know if she is correct. She says it is added in the rinse cycle and the reason is that it breaks down and destroys the soap to get rid of it. If the soap is left in the clothes that is what makes them stiff, but liquid fabric softener makes the soap go away and that keeps the clothes soft because soap makes them stiff. Now, the fabric ones I asked her about what do they do. She said those are for scenting or like you said unscented ones to remove static. Now here is something pretty cool she told me to try and I am going to go down there and do it because I am bored as it is raining on and off here.
She said fill the sink up with some water and put some regular dish soap in it, not the stuff she uses cause our machine is some new one that uses some special soap that does not suds up like the old soap. Then she said stir it up and get it so the bubbles are out of control to the top. Then she said to add some liquid fabric softener in and keep stirring it with a stick or something and the soap bubbles will actually disappear because the fabric softener is destroying the soap. That is why she said fabric softener is really for and scent is just a choice if a person likes scented or unscented that it is just a preference like you said you use unscented products.
Let me go give that a test run and see how that turns out because I am really curious if this is true or not.
Wow.... She was totally 100% correct.... I filled the sink about 1/4 and did exactly as she said and the suds were really bubbling up as I stirred it up. Once I poured in some fabric softener and stirred they started to disappear. That is unreal and it makes total sense what you said because I do recall seeing commercials about unscented stuff and figured what was the purpose of using it. I think that is how it came up and the reason I asked her a while back.
Well the sun is back out here again and looks like it is all dried up and think I am going to go take a ride on the bike before the wife gets home.
Well I get my iPhone to apple store here in my country and still on warrenty the guy in the apple store ask me what happen recently so I told him I have using iPad charger all the way since I bought it so the guy said that I should not used the iPad charger because it's mainly for iPad I should use its original iPhone charger, but luckly my iPhone will be free fix for the battery replacement because still under warrenty so guys I recommended that don't use ur iPhone with iPad charger for long life battery working.
But if u still like for fast charging and easy life style try direct ur iPhone to 240V power supply outlet to see ur iPhone become a roasted chicken...hahaha..joke!!
I rest my case. I for one am no longer going to respond to somebody who has apparently lost his/her mind. The average posters are challege enough.
Thats great that they took care of you and are putting a new battery in for free because they do say on their website that the iPad charger is universal and can be used with all their devices. Plus now an apple store says you should not use it becasue it will ruin the battery in the long run. Plus I remember from the first page or so someone also stated someone from another apple store said not to use it... I am curious what all the others will say now that they read what happend with your phone and what the apple store you took it to said.... I am sure Meg and deggie will have something to say that this could not have happend to your phone and the apple store you took it to was wrong.... I cannot wait to see their replies to this one and it is a shame that you had to go through this with your phone, but good thing is you are getting it fixed for free and giving you a new battery.....
I cannot wait to see their respone to this one.
Just googled to try to answer this question for myself. After reading (some of) the arguing, I remembered that I have a watt meter and could answer this without help.
Plug in iPhone - charger draws 4.4 watts
Plug in iPad - charger draws 12.9 watts
Seems like the device and charger (or some combination of the two) can figure out what they need. Safe.
there's a lot of win ITT.
we all know you shouldn't use you use your ipad charger for your iphone... battery shrinkage, risk of fire, etc. it's a shame that most people won't speak up like lahoman.
merlin's a prophet.
This is a hilarious thread.

lulz!
Read about apple chargers here: http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/icharge.html
So, yeah, the device knows what it can get from a given Apple charger, you will charge an iPad (slowly) even on a PC USB, and you won't damage your iPhone with an iPad charger.
You can connect a zillion theoretical 5v batteries together in parallel and charge your iPhone and that won't damage it. You can connect all the car batteries in the mall's parking garage in parallel, connect that to your car's battery, plugin your cigarette lighter charger and charge your iPhone and that won't damage it.
Merlin, couple of things, firstly, none of what you are saying appears to be evidence based. Secondly, most of what you are saying is opinionated & distorted through too much emotion.
No where in your posts, not even once, did you prove your point. You have no proof, & it especially lacks much technical detail, for example you yourself stated that you do not know the circuitry within the aforementioned iDevices, so how could you ever expect to convince the average "Jo public", let alone listen, to your argument that is fast becoming less & less valid.
By you not knowing through admission the "machinery" behind the iDevices &/or what makes them tick, you are clearly stuck on a ship lost out at sea without a rudder in unchartered waters, with less than 1% chance of being found (like trying to find a needle in a haystack) with no phone a friend or ask the crowd option, except for a lifeline wih one last ditch attempt praying to the almighty & begging for a miracle. This is the perfect analogy for the situation you're in now.
I am really keen if not, excited [to say the least], for you to return to this forum & reply to my post [for all to see], & "bless" us with your self-professed knowledge of why we shouldn't (not can't) use those chargers between our iDevices, but including the evidence to back it up.
And to put it bluntly, explain yourself.
I am really interested to learn, that is one of my key reasons behind me wanting you to return to this forum (please).
Thank-you in advance.
Wow I can't believe I just read this entire post! Merlindouche. Oh and my background is electrical engineering so you don't throw a tantrum. Phd? Sure!
