iCloud Mail Down (12:30PM eastern, Apr 17, 2012)?

I was in the middle of responding to an email on iCloud.com's mail interface, and all of the sudden the "Send" button grayed out. I see I have 1 item in my drafts folder, which must be the last auto-saved draft of the reply I was typing up, but I cannot get to the draft. On iCloud.com, the loading spinner just spins and spins and eventually I get an error saying the folder can't be loaded. Same thing happens when I try to go back to the Inbox. I tried to load up the draft on my iPhone 4S, but it also just keeps spinning and never loading the draft. The fact that the problem is occuring on two devices (on separate network connections, one PC on my office's wifi and the other my 4S on AT&T's 3G network) seems to imply that the problem is server-side. Is anybody else seeing these problems?

I'm located in Tallahassee, FL. Not sure if that matters, but I suppose it could be a regional outage.

Hree in UK - all mail service dropped out yesterday afternoon - soooooo frusrating!!!! - this is my work address and as I'm freelance I rely on the Apple email and it's stability - I've never heard this happening with any other email provider.

Need this sorted out asap - it's wholly unacceptable

As I work in media I'll be able to push this as a news story - I'm appalled by Apple's silence and lack of customer care - it completely stinks!!!

James from NYC here.

This is insane. The fact that Apple doesn't post an updated status since 10am east-coast time... It's unprofessional. I work for a non-profit in an office with 11 other people and if I didn't update folks on the tasks I'm trudging through, I'd get yelled it! If it weren't for this forum, I'd freak out entirely that I was the only one facing this tremendous problem.

And look, I'm not hooked to my computer 24 hours a day but the fact is everything professional, personal, bank accounts... it all goes to my email address. I don't get anything snail-mail. The fact that they haven't updated the status raises serious questions about their integrity and ability to function in a professional manner.

I'm in the mid-west of the US and I have not had email since yesterday around 7pm (central time). I am completely infuriated at this point, all of my work and personal correspondence is routed through my icloud account and not being able to access it has made this day worthless, productivity-wise. It is especially frustrating considering I am PAYING for an email account that I could use through Google or some other service free.

I called the help-desk and all they could tell me is that they are aware of it and working on it. They did not give me a timeline for when they expect it to be fixed.
