How do I restore contacts from icloud to my iphone?

plsss tell me what to do.... i used my friend's wi fi, when i went to her house.. and lost my old contacts.... cant get it back.. dont know what to do... I have done turning off and turning on again contacts in icloud settings... i have synced it in my laptop when i got home.. but didnt help..

hi... im using a new iphone, and gave my old iphone to my sister..... i got the contacts and everything.... but then suddenly lost all my contacts!!!! then i found out my sister deleted all my contacts from the old iphone.... (my icloud account was still there)))) is there a way that i can retrieve all my contacts??? 😟 i really hate my sister for that... i dont have anything left in my contacts, except her contacts!!!

Anne1430 - this same thing happened to me - only I gave my old phone to my wife and she did the same thing - loosing 20 years of contacts social and business.

How could something like this be developed by Apple. This is so disappointing ... and we don't have any way to resolve it. I'm headed off to the Apple store after work to see what they can do to help...at least have some dialogue with a human.

It's not Apple's fault, it is your fault for selling, gifting, etc your phone and not removing your iCloud or any other private information that you might have had stored before departing with the unit. How is this Apple's fault?

And no I don't work for Apple. The only Apple equipment I use is their phones, my computers are all Windows.

My wife and I just came back from dinner when she realised that all the contacts have gone. The problems are she havent back up for quite a while and she's using my Apple ID for her phone. If i do the icloud solution, are the contacts that will appear is from her previous contacts or from my phone contacts due to she using my apple id..

If she has a different iCloud login than you, she should be fine. Just log out of iCloud and use her "different" iCloud login different from yours. You can share the same apple ID for apps, etc as it does not conflict with iCloud. My wife and I share the same apple ID but have different logins for the iCloud. In this manner the settings, contacts, photos, apps are kept separate on each other's account.

If you both have the same iCloud ID than your out of luck.

If you begin syncing contacts with iCloud you will be given the option to merge your contacts with the accout. If you do, your contacts will be uploaded to the account and will appear on both your phone and hers (if she is sharing the same account/ID). Be aware that if you do this, if she then deletes your contacts from her device, they will also be deleted from yours and they will be lost. For this reason, it's usually recommended that different users maintain separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs.

If she already has her own account, sign into her account on icloud.com and check to see if her contacts are still there. If they are, she should go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back into her own account to sync her contacts and other data back to her device.

This won't restore her missing contacts if they are not on her phone. It will only create a different account to keep her data separated from yours. If her contacts are gone, she will have to restore them from a backup, if she has one. If they are in a different iCloud account, she should sign into that account to sync her contacts back to her phone (as mentioned above).

You are right. I would rely on iCloud or thrid party apps such as copytrans Contacts to keep a backup of my iPhone contacts and restore at any time should I need to.

I am so frustrated after reading this!!! My son got an itouch yesterday and my other son set it all up of course using my apple id. When they noticed all my contacts were on his itouch they deleted them. Now my contacts are deleted from my iphone that I really need for work. Is there really no way for me to get them back?
