How do I restore contacts from icloud to my iphone?

please help! tried doing what you said... made sure i was signed on... then went to cloud contacts were on, and i turned it off.... but then no "keep" or "merge" option popped up weh i turned it off then on... am i missing something?

oops! spoke too soon! found it! keep and merge weren't coming up when i was trying it with phone plugged to computer... but contacts are not complete... is there a way for all to come back?

this happened to me too... i was trying to turn the contacts on and off WHILE the phone was plugged into the computer.... no keep or merge option was appearing... when i unplugged the phone and tried it.. there it was... hope it helps 🙂 my contacts are incomplete though...

I have read through al these and I have the oposite probem!

I can only get 3 contacts to merge to my iclouds!!

everything else is backed up!

what am I doing wrong?

I have lost all my contacts after upgrade from iphone 4 to 5s.

I set up the the iphone 5 by restoring from the icloud backup I had just made. Seem to work fine apart from none of my photos were restored. When I went into icloud settings it said the iphone was being restored even though I had left it plugged in and connected to wifi overnight.

Whilst I was waiting for the restore to complete (it still hasn't 36 hours later) I stupidly thought I would tidy up the old phone ready to give it to my girlfriend's son......I then realised I hand't turned off icloud backup on the old phone and all the contacts I had deleted from the old phone disappeared from the new phone too leaving me with 10.

I have tried restoring the old phone from a backup I made a couple of months ago on my PC but the contacts still show as the 10 that show on my icloud.

Does anyone know why the contacts don't restore from the PC backup and the icloud contacts of just 10 seem to take precendence?

Log out of your icloud account

Restore from your old computer backup

If you see your old contacts log into icloud and see if you can select back up from phone and not from restore from iCloud.

Let us know if you had any success, if not I think your out of luck for not signing out of iCloud from the phone you gave away.

Yep, tried that but the contacts were gone by the time I realise what an idiot I had been!

Managed to get some info back by looking up numbers in whatsapp, Facebook etc.

I also tried one of the recovery tools which found some numbers but the names were a bit mixed up. I have been texting the numbers asking who they are.

Thanks for the reply and I have learnt a valuable lesson which I will pass on...

If the original restore had worked and my photos had come across I would have just wiped the old phone straight away and the problem wouldn't have arisen I guess.

I lost all of my contacts except for a few recent ones. Nothing worked to restore them from icloud. I could see them but not copy them over.Turning contacts on and off in settings>icloud didn't work either.

Finally I tried going into add contacts on my phone and adding group. I Unchecked and rechecked the tick for icloud contacts and this restored them all.

I am interested in retrieving my hundreds of contacts from ICloud. An IT guy told me I cannot because the contacts' back-up button on the older device was not switched "ON".

Do you have a solution?

IT guy is probably correct. But, check and see by login into your icloud account by computer to see it the contacts are there, if you see them you have a good chance.

Hey Lungs !.. i need help !... i did the same way as u told abt changing the toggle on the icloud "contacts" and i could recover only a part of the whole contacts ! ... its present on the icloud but not getting back on the phone !!.. i tried a hundred times by toggling the option !.. and mergin evry time but only a few are restored ! plzzz help
