I have just redeemed an iTunes $30 gift card and did not get the face value into my account. $25.51 landed in my account, $4.49 has gone missing. Opening balance $20, closing balance $45.51

Unless it's written on it you can't without redeeming it onto an account (assuming that it hasn't already been redeemed)

If the card has been redeemed it has no value, it's used and empty. Otherwise, and if the card's value isn't written on it, the only way to know its value is to redeem it

However I just tried it with a new $15 card (scratched just now), and it claimed that the PIN was invalid. I copy-pasted the PIN to iTunes' redeem feature, and it worked right away.

So your mileage may vary...

Log into the iTunes Store using the account under which you redeemed the card and your balance will be shown at the upper-right next to your account ID.

Sorry, but there is no way to check to see if a card has been redeemed other than by attempting to redeem it.

If it hasn't been redeemed (if it has been redeemed the card has zero value), and unless it has its value written on it, you can't (except by redeeming it onto an account).

Explain the issue, and they will connect you to iTunes support center.

Associate here can look up the value on the card and if it has been activated or not, when you provide the PBHxxxxx or GCAxxxx at the left bottom of the card.

Are you sure that works with iTunes gift cards? That page asks for a PIN, but iTunes gift cards do not have a PIN. I tried it just now with an iTunes gift card and I got an error message saying the PIN I entered was invalid.

How to check to see if you have "redeemed" it without actually "redeeming" it? I think that is why the question of checking the balance on a card. Thank you

seems like ios7 doesnt allow us to check the balance of our itunes gift card. i want to make some purchases! 😟
