Retina Macbook Pro LCD Mura (White Spot)

I just got my brand new retina screen Macbook Pro today and after a few hours of use, I noticed a light spot in the mid-lower left side of the screen. It's a cloudy light spot also known as mura. ***** that this innovative new screen on the expensive as heck MBP retina has this issue. I'll have to see what can be done about it at the Apple store, but I don't want to be without my new laptop (which I need for work) for over a month.

Anyone else with a new MBP retina seeing the same issues?

Alright, good to know. I thought that if I exchanged it for another one and got another display effect, I'd be stuck with it. But I'd have 14 days to return that one also, right? Thanks for clearing that up. I ordered mine on June 17th. It is a week 29 (July) build. 782 to be built that week. Yeah, I think I'll do what you recommended because I really need a laptop these next 2 weeks.

Have you had any problems with you rMBP or are you waiting on yours to get to you?

I can confirm that you can return or replace it as often as you want, always starting from the day you received it up to 14 days. That is just what Apple told me.

BTW my rMBP was picked up yesterday and on wednesday (4 days) I will receive a new one (although it is CTO/BTO it has been built within 2 days and will be delivered in about 3-5 days).

I really hope this one will be flawless!

Same Issue as others. Only about a week of ownership and dead set in the center about 1.5-2 inches from bottom of screen this white dot appeared. I use this laptop for work and cannot afford downtime. If someone from Apple Care would like to ship me a new one and I would send this one back that would be great. Please contact me via the information in my profile otherwise I will need to wait a few weeks before I even have time to go to the store and ask if they can replace it.User uploaded file

Well.. Mine isn't an rMBP.. it is the MD104.. I noticed a dark patch (Drak Mura?) that just looks like a thumb print.. Feeling so disappointed specially this one is a replacement I received yesterday for another one with tilting / clicking hinges problems.. (Should I have kept that?)

I do not want to try my luck again.. as there are no guarantees another replacement is flawless..

This is my first Mac ever.. I was so keen to buy one thinking it is a "Superior Quality".. Now I just wonder if I made the right choice.

Wonder what happened to "Quality Control"?

By the way, I'm in KSA, we do not have a Genius Bar, and getting a replacement is not that easy..

I also have a small mura just like this one. I also have a lit (dead) pixel. Ive had my rMBP 2.3 gHz, 16 G RAM now since July but have only noticed these things recently. Im actually suprised because mine is a Samsung screen and I honestly expected this behavior more from the LG screens but oh well. Im thinking about taking it in, but am not sure if Apple will give me a new machine or just replace the screen since im past my 14 day exchange for whatever reason timeframe.... anyone tried to exchange their rMBP after the 14 days? What was the Apple response?

I have the same issue with mine - 2.6, 16gb, 256mb CTO rMBP delivered 8/23. Called Apple support 9/9 (18 days after delivery) and was told from a senior advisor my only options were mail-in repair or Genuis Bar visit with repair . Visited the Genius Bar today and they didn't have the screen in stock but ordered the screen and will give me a call when it comes in so I can bring the laptop back for install. This kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth with Apple - a $2500 laptop that is 18 days old and they didn't seem too concerned about the defect, but rather more about the process of repairing a new product. Understandably this will take care of the issue, however it's not without inconvenience and time.
