MacBook Pro June 2012 13" Kernel Panic

I have a four day old MacBook Pro 13" which has had two Kernel Panics in two days, is it Parallels or shall I just take it back, or is it the driver issue that everybody is talking about, please see diagnostic reports below:-

Wow that looks bad.

Which software were you running in the VM when it happened?

I have been running IE9 + flash all morning, and it's still going without a crash.

Just Outlook 2010, it's really bad happened again - Blue Screen Death 😢

I've checked Windows update, reinstalled Parallels Tools, I'm stuffed !!!!.......

Must be a different issue. Have you installed anything else recently in the VM? Plugged any new device?

I've been running all day with Outlook 2010 and Ie9 + flash, no crash yet.

You can't from Apple, but you can buy a 16GB kit from Crucial (UK) for about £135. They are very good, and it's easy to select the right kit (just enter you mac model and they will show you the available upgrade).

Only about £97 for 16GB Corsair kit for MBP 2011/2012 from eBuyer. Always worth shopping around, Crucial is usually the best but I was surprised to find that Corsair's RAM was cheaper!

Glad you found it cheaper, I got lazy on that one and didn't even shop around. I also like Crucial's customer service, I occasionally had to return some kits (my mistake, not theirs) and they never made it difficult, so I guess I reward their customer service.

I did yesterday's software update. I'll try doing the things that made my Mac crash (D3 and finishing iMovie project). As there's no mention to Intel HD 4000 drivers in the update description I believe the problem will persist. I'll keep you informed.

No miracle my end either, just got my first crash since I switched 3D graphics accceleration back on.

So I'm going to disable it again, and hope the update didn't break anything, until Apple/Intel release the new HD4000 driver...

Well this so called update from Apple is completely useless, its worse than ever, surely these updates are checked by somebody before they release them, it has ruined my MacBook Pro and Parallels experience.

It practically unusable now, I'm really peed of with the whole thing..... 😠

It's probably too late but that's why it's usually a good idea to make a backup before installing system updates...

Your crashes are weird because since I reverted to 3D graphics disabled, I have no crashes due to parallels.

You might have a device which is incompatible with the USB update.

If I were you I'd try to disconnect ALL my USB devices, and if you get stable again in parallels (you will need 3D acceleration disabled for that unfortunately until a new driver is released), try to plug them back one by one, until you get crashes again. If you have crashes all the time, leave at least a day before plugging in the next one. If they happen less often, you might need more time in between.

Or you could do the opposite and unplug them one by one, until the crashes stop, if you really need to use most of your devices. That way, you'll miss only one at a time...

Just a quick update to say I still have not had any crashes since I re-disabled graphics acceleration in Parallels VM, so your new crashes are probably related to the changes with USB. Have you tried my suggestion?

I'm hoping the HD4000 bug will be solved with Mountain Lion, which should be released on Wednesday. With a bit of luck it might solve your USB issues as well.

Make sure you have a complete backup before installing it though (I use SuperDuper to clone my system drive including my Parallels VMs to an external HDD, and I have all my data on my second internal HDD to make OS changes almost instant). ML might bring more issues than it solves and downgrading back to Lion might be necessary.

Have you installed ML? Has it fixed the problems with the Intel HD 4000? I have just completed the form for the free ML upgrade corresponding to the new macs, I'm waiting for the code. As soon I have ML I'll try playing D3 and finishing my iMovie project (this things made my MBP complete freeze). I'll keep you informed.

I have filled the form too earlier today and waiting for the code. I'll report here after install.

Reading the first user reviews,it sounds like ML might be what Lion should have been, ie much more stable and faster. So there is hope.

Make sure all the apps you use are compatible with ML before upgrading though. Also, there are updates for imovie and other apps for ML compatibility, so make sure you install these as well.
