Retina Macbook Pro WiFi and Bluetooth issue

Hey all,

i'd be really thankful for some info on the following issue :

i've got a Retina Macbook Pro and a Bluetooth Sound System from Logitech. The System connects to Macbook via Bluetooth which always works fine. Connecting to internet via WiFi works fine as well. The problem occurs when i use both WiFi and Bluetooth simultaneously : there seems to be some kind of interference, which makes my internet either go down completely or become very slow. This issue is not that nasty, but I'd expect a $2300 machine to work perfectly. So my question is : is this problem known for all of new Retina Macbooks or is it just my unit? In case it's just my unit, i'd still have a chance of exchanging it for a new one. But i'd like to know for sure where this problems comes from. I'd also be very thankful for every other solution you can think of.

Thanks in advance

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

How is it possible for an issue as glaring as this to be relatively unnoticed by media and consumers, in general? This is either not affecting all users, or it does affect all users and they don't know this is the issue. If anyone has a way to get this back on the media's radar, then you should do it.

I have a 15" MBPR purchased Nov '13. I installed Mavericks on it before using it for anything. I now have Yosemite installed. Ever since I've had this macbook, I've had this issue with wifi being slow, intermittent, or stopped at *random* times only when Bluetooth is turned on. I'm using Apple's Magic Mouse for crying out loud. No other Bluetooth devices are connected.

I know Bluetooth is causing the problem because it's obvious: webpage doesn't load (I give it 5-10 seconds), then I turn off Bluetooth, and then the webpage loads in about 1 second. It's so frustrating and so blatantly wrong that I try to convince myself it surely can't be the issue. Sometimes I'll hit the page reload button a bunch, just to make sure (it will load slowly 1 out of 5 times; it doesn't load the other 4 out of 5). Sometimes I'll move the mouse around to see if the extra Bluetooth activity breaks up any RF bottlenecks (this sort of works sometimes, but it's short-lived). Without fail (literally, not exaggerating), when I kill Bluetooth, the page loads.

Please, please, please......Apple at least acknowledge that SOME models are having SOME issues. Who cares about the media: we're your trying-to-be-loyal customers!

I also have had this issue with bluetooth & wifi …….i have mentioned it to advisors while also experiencing a screen flicker

(which was finally resolved ) …….i suggest everyone get the extended warranty and make sure you complain about this malfunction in writing …….i'm sure if its not resolved it will be part of a class action at some point ……. if there is a real solution ….please let me know

I had the same problems after just installing OS X 10.10 Yosemite (never had a clean install since 10.6.😝)

First check everything by EtreCheck if there's something that gets ins conflict with Yosemite/your rMBP.

Then try following:

  1. Goto System settings network --> options --> WLAN/Wifi --> change your Wifi to top
  2. Find out which DNS is best for your Wifi by installing and running namebench (Link: https://code.google.com/p/namebench/)
  3. Change your WiFi DNS to that result (Goto System settings network --> options --> DNS --> DNS-Server) ✅
  4. Last (wait to) install OS X 10.10.2! I'm using the beta

My rMBP runs now flawlessly.🙂

I have MacBook Pro Retina 15 Early 2013 and LG external display. Mac is in clamshell mode. Sometimes when I switch application or space audio changes to just some kind of white sound and reconnection is required. I have some minor problems with mouse almost none with keyboard (sometimes occasional lags but very rare). I tried two external audio devices Bose SoundLink Mini and JBL with same symptoms. If I use one app audio plays fine when switch to another not all times it survives. Sometimes only few cracks and sometime if fall to noise. All cable audio equipment works fine including LG monitor Maxx build in audio over display port.

I never had this problem until I installed my MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 Modell a few days before from scratch. Since this install my WLAN crashes with Bluetooth enabled. After deleting WLAN configuration, rebooting and adding WLAN configuration, everything works for a short time, until it crashes again. No problems when disabling Bluetooth or switching to 5 GHz WLAN.

My environmant (Router, Bluetooth keyboard and mousepad) did not change, the only thing I changed is the operating system, installed from scratch with all updates installed. Having to use Bluetooth or WLAN decreases my productivity as app developer. It would be nice if APPLE fixes this bug soon.

Is there a statement from APPLE?

I called the Apple helpdesk: he gave me some clear instructions: in my case it turned out to be a software problem. 5 minutes on the phone and it was resolved.

shut off computer. power connected. press together: shift, ctrl, opt, on. Hold for 2 sec, then release. Screen should remain off. Then turn on mac. add "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4" to your DNS list in advanced settings in wifi/network. go to library, prefrences. remove "networkinterfaces.plist", "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" and "com.apple.airport.prefrences.plist". Restart. reselect wifi.

This worked for me, I don't know if it's applicable to everyone who has this problem.

cheers

it's 2015 now and this problem is still occurring. I have been at the iCenter, no solution, three days ago I was in a chat with apple, they helped me out for free, but the solution provided wasn't good. They told me to reset the network which I did. At first it seemed to work, but later I had the same problem. Since I saw it working I figured it couldn't be a hardware error, so I decided to do a complete reset, deleted the entire harddrive and reinstalled the OS. At first I was happy, everything worked like a charm.... until I wanted to get some work done and attached my mouse. It's not even the bluetooth that's the problem. If it's on everything still works fine. But as soon as I switch on my apple mouse and connect my WiFi drops. Ridiculous for such an expensive piece of equipment indeed.
