Retina Macbook Pro WiFi and Bluetooth issue

Hey all,

i'd be really thankful for some info on the following issue :

i've got a Retina Macbook Pro and a Bluetooth Sound System from Logitech. The System connects to Macbook via Bluetooth which always works fine. Connecting to internet via WiFi works fine as well. The problem occurs when i use both WiFi and Bluetooth simultaneously : there seems to be some kind of interference, which makes my internet either go down completely or become very slow. This issue is not that nasty, but I'd expect a $2300 machine to work perfectly. So my question is : is this problem known for all of new Retina Macbooks or is it just my unit? In case it's just my unit, i'd still have a chance of exchanging it for a new one. But i'd like to know for sure where this problems comes from. I'd also be very thankful for every other solution you can think of.

Thanks in advance

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

a RSSI of -72 with a Noise floor of -81 is really poor. You have a high noise floor even at -81. Your SNR is 9 dB which is realy really poor and you are not going to get a good quality connection at these levels. You need to see an RSSI of around -60 at the very minimum to get a good quality signal with the noise floor you have. Try to get a difference of atleast 20 dB between signal and Noise.

That might be generally good advice but you know we can't blame this issue on poor signal strength. For me, my MBP cuts out just as frequently with -45. And, no other computers I've ever owned have this problem, no matter how poor the signal.

So, it's not one bad router (we all have various models), it's not the signal strength, and that only leaves one thing left: the computers need a fix in one way or another.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it looks like the MBP update from yesterday had a fix for this issue. I've put bluetooth/wifi through a number of tests and for the first time since I've owned the comptuer, wifi hasn't cut out once. In fact, wifi is now faster than any other device on my network. I get consistent speeds of over 2.0 mbps when downloading files -- even when trying to "break" it by turning bluetooth on and off.

Yes, so far, so good on mine. Haven't checked signal strength yet but I haven't had a connection drop with bluetooth on since I downloaded the fix; this is better than I've seen since I got the computer 3 weeks ago.

For what it's worth, my Bluetooth software version is now 4.1.2f9 11046. S/N is currently -71 dBm/ -82 dBm. No drops so far using the Magic Mouse. Crossing my fingers that this update fixed things...

I take back my word that "No, it doesn't fix for me at all" at my previous post.

Yes, I here by confirm that the latest update seems to solve the "wifi stop - when bluetooth is on with magic mouse" problem. I can surf the net now with magic mouse is ON. My wifi details are as below.

PHY Mode: 802.11g

BSSID: 00:1a:70:6d:53:bc

Channel: 11

Country Code: DE

Network Type: Infrastructure

Security: WPA Personal

Signal / Noise: -73 dBm / -90 dBm

Transmit Rate: 18

Thank you Apple !!

As far as I'm concerned, that last update solved my issue. Haven't had a repeat of the wireless interference issue since. The only remaining issue I see is that occasionally the bluetooth connection to the mouse gets dropped; clicking the mouse button restores it.

Welcome to the world of Apple Mac. Where the old saying, "It Just Works", is now changed to "It Just Doesn't Work".

It will not be fixed as it is a flaw in the design and Apple will do nothing about it.

Has anyone gotten this issue resolved physically from apple? I'm done with this thing and looking for the best route to take to get a new one as this is clearly a hardware problem. Can't be anywhere near a bluetooth signal without reseting the wifi every 10 minutes. Can't be more than 8 feet from my brand new dual-band router that works fine with every other device

I purchased the retina in early October and noticed issues as the weeks progressed. Wifi seemed heinously slow at some points, mostly in that it was constantly connecting or reconnecting if the display fell asleep. I still see considerable delay in some cases when returning from sleep. My USB port intermittently goes out. I theorize its related to using a bluetooth/USB PC mouse interchangably with a magic mouse, but seriously why would my only other USB not function suddenly. I just sort of expected more. Also I seem to be able to crash it, or programs...fairly easily. But perhaps CS6 and the latest Autodesk etc softwares will constantly demand more even as devices are upgraded. Despite these many issues I prefer the light design, lack of superfulous things (to me) like CD drive and various ports plus the faster processing far more than the standard MBPros and of course over my previous '08 model. It just feels kind of cheap and plasticy like a giant iPad. Which is bittersweet in its 'take it or leave it' design. I believe future updates firmware and software will continue to solve these issues, but that there will always be some bug, because Apple is doing a lot right now, also a take it or leave it situation...
