Safari 6.0 RSS Help

What happend to my RSS feeds? Safari 6.0 wants to put them in mail, which is the last place I want my feeds to appear. Also, there is no more RSS button in the window... how do I bookmark a RSS feed?

On Lion 10.7.4 and went to Safari 6 to take advantage of the common URL/search field not knowing that RSS capability would be lost. Researched putting Safari 5 back but I found the process problematic. Tried standalone RSS readers and found RSSOwl. I imported an HTML file of my many RSS feeds into OWL. I set up specific topic folders and grouped the feeds accordingly. I've come to really like OWL and it's versatility of Views. Once installed, set the RSS option in Mail to RSSOwl and selecting an RSS feed in Safari will be redirected to OWL. I'm no longer looking to uninstall Safari 6. The only thing missing is seeing that the feed numbers have update on my bookmarks bar in Safari. An icon in the finder upper right menu bar would do the trick. RSSOwl: http://www.rssowl.org it's very powerful.

If you are using 10.7 Lion and have upgraded to Safari 6, then Mail will automatically open and offer to import the feed URL, which will then show up in the left-hand sidebar. If you are using 10.8 Mountain Lion, RSS integration has been completely removed system-wide from Safari, Mail and Screensavers (reason unknown, no forewarning). To view RSS from now on, you must now install a 3rd-party RSS news app, such as Reeder (general consensus seems to have it that Reeder is the most popular choice at this time, though Apple has not come forward with a specific recommendation).

Um, sure, if you're running Mac OS X 10.7 'Lion'... But if you're running Mac OS X 10.8 'Mountain Lion', it REALLY isn't there. gswank2's response to my last clearly indicates that he has in fact upgraded to 10.8, whereas your response after he had already made that clear suggests that you have not yet left 10.7, and didn't know there would be such a difference between versions. When I replied, I made sure to include valid responses for both versions, since I did not yet know with certainty what I was up against.

I have been trying hard to keep using Safari.... apple keeps coming for more reasons to stop using it. RSS was a great feature that I liked in Safari ...java & javascript issues were some that I don't like safari (so many web-apps/pages don't work properly on safari that I keep end up going to Firefox)

... good bye Safari ... Hello Firefox and Chrome

I was an avid Apple fan with thousands and thousands of dollars invested in Apple equipment and software. This OSX Mountain Lion "upgrade" is the most devious, and problem ridden update I never expected from Apple. I literally feel like I've taken a giant step backwards to the tactics that Microsoft used during the introduction of WinXP. If you didn't read the fine print... you basically were caught off guard. AirPlay only works with computers about 10 months old or newer (for no obvious good reason), Mail completly removes the RSS News Reader, Dictation is limited to only a moment or two of text. I feel like each day I will learn one more new thing about Mountain Lion that has been crippled, removed, or misrepresented in advertising.

I am seriously disappointed. I know I'm out the $20, however if it wasn't so much trouble I'd revert back to Snow Leopard. I am so dissappointed in Apple... for the first time in many years I can now say: I don't trust the company anymore. Though the products appear to remain first rate (for now), I will second-guess everything from Apple in the future. The web and even the Apple Store at International Mall in Tampa is a buzz with disgruntled customers. I really hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Mountain Lion is a minor releaseat best, this is all marketing hoopla!

I used to update right away as well. Lion was the last time I did it. I am going to wait and see with the Mountain Lion. I mean c'mon what are the "major" features they brought in this release ... really?

Oh ... the took off RSS ... woopie!!!

I am the same way I converted everything in my house with apple products. No more ...wait and see.

I think there are better ways to invest the 100B dollars in the bank ... lets hire some programers!!!
