How long will it take for apple to respond to my request for free mountain lion?

I have emailed Apple and waited a few hours, am wondering whether I filled out the form wrong and wasted my chance? Wondering how long anyone else had to wait?

Thanks!

[sigh] I wish people would stop calling this a "freebie" or acting as though we should be grateful for this gift from Apple. This is NOT a freebie. This is the OS that would have been in the machines we paid thousands of dollars for just a month ago, but it wasn't ready on time. The update was an advertised part of the deal, prominently featured in its store listings. When we paid far above market value attached to similar windows machines, we did so with the understanding that we were also purchasing Apple's committment to unparallelled customer support and delivering on their promises.

This entire set of barriers to getting the promised update is an epic fail on that promise, And what we expect here is most definitely NOT a gift, and we absolutely DID pay for it. The fact is, we paid for it in advance, and delivering our updates should have been treated with a higher priority than selling it. I would have gladly settled for equal footing. But I am absolutely not OK with being treated like a second class free-loader, because they already have my money.

Just got off the phone with a rep at 800-275-2273, thx MP27786. Very short wait time, was very nice. Told me both of my macbooks have been approved, but said up to 72 hours. Told him I am dissapointed in this, esp. lack of communication. Was very appologetic. But, still have to wait. Way to throw a wet blanket on us Apple. Gave me this email address uptodatesupport@apple.com and said to email them.

its not really the waiting, its not knowing exactly when you will receive it, that gets me. When i order a package, I dont mind waiting because i know I got 3 day delivery. But when you expect something to be overnight and it takes 3 to 4 days, you start to get furious about it. I wished apple would at least email everyone to tell them they received their clam. How hard it is to send an automated email?

Nothing here yet.

My biggest complaint about this entire thing was they just left us hanging. We expected to download the software on release day. If they just sent us a note saying that they got our submission and it would take up to 72 hours for them to process it then I think most of us wouldn't be upset.

I expected things to decline when we lost Steve, but I did not expect customer service at Apple to go down hill so fast.

Well they have to process each request manually as we are required to send in an electronic copy of our receipt. I guess it takes time to read and process all of them. I've been waiting 24 hours. The good news is I havea new MacBook Pro retina with Lion and it is working just fine. I'll upgrade, but I'm not checking my email every 5 minutes waiting for a code from apple. It will get here sooner or later.

I was never asked for a receipt, I was only asked where I got mine and I said the Apple store online. (Well actually my wife got it from the Apple store... and I got it from her for a Fathers Day gift.) 😉

They should be able to see all this stuff just by pulling up the serial numbers... how many Retina Macbook Pros did they sell before June 11th? NONE!

Apple is giving latest technology to her customers to do everything for them such as iPhone 4S with Siri, but surprisingly could not figure out how to manage updates for systems have/had been sold after June 11, 2012. Why do you need to fill out forms and wait for codes (plus wrong)? I have lost my all enthusiasm for Mountain Line OS, and now not passionate anymore for this OS to update my MacBook Pro. Apple launches one of the best OS but in a worst way... Not good Apple..

I have been waiting for almost over 30hrs and got nothing via email. So i called apples to confirm that they have recieved my information (gave them the claim #), and they said mine was approved and the tech said he will resend the code to make sure i get it. If 72 hrs passed by and still no code, i should call them and let them know and go from there.

They told me the same. They said my code was emailed twice, I waited on the phone for them to email it a 3rd time. Still didn't get the code. I'm now waiting for them to email me a form to have them send it to a different email address.

What a joke! The problem is definitely on Apple's end. I think it would be simpler to just buy it and dispute the charge.
