How long will it take for apple to respond to my request for free mountain lion?

I have emailed Apple and waited a few hours, am wondering whether I filled out the form wrong and wasted my chance? Wondering how long anyone else had to wait?

Thanks!

I think, they don't care anymore as they have $17 billion in valets. They might have predicted that we are crying now but once they send us code, everything will be over. Since I have their products so I need to call them for help and advices but I my rating for Apple is going down particularly on account of this OS issue. Today, I posted my discussion in the Mountain Line OS category, and you know, I could not find my actual post after an hour in my account. This makes you sad, and washes away all your loyalty with product. After Canon, this was my second product, which I loved but how long? You know about everything of a person/company once you have interaction with them.

Please remember guys, this is a Mountain Line and it will take time for a Mountain Line to come down from far away mountains.

I had the same problem. Sent in the forms, then heard nothing back for a day and assumed that I had made a mistake.

I complained several times in writing to the iTunes store, and when I pointed out that the Tim during the keynote promised a free upgrade to mountain lion WHEN it was released, and not 72 hours later, they refunded my purchase.

I suggest all of you email the iTunes store and demand a $20 credit if it took more than 24 hours.

Just keep writing them. They'll get the message.

Second email to apple.

One would at least expect a confirmation email right??

Hello Michael,

Corey here, I'm very sorry, but unfortunately I am not in control of the up-to-date program, and as such cannot assist you with your Up-to-Date claim in anyway directly. As I stated previously, you should receive a reply to your claim in the next 48 hours, which should either approve and provide you with your code or deny it, which will mean you'll have to purchase OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.

I would like to apologize again for any inconvenience this might cause you, Mick, and I sincerely hope that you will receive an answer to your claim soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns relating to your account and I will always be happy to offer you my knowledge and assistance. Please take care and have a marvelous day!

Sincerely,

Corey

Thanks guys for all your comments, they have been really useful! I would say I waited about 28 hours before I emailed apple last night and expressed my annoyance. Then this morning so probably around 40 hours after reuqest I got my code! I am no happily downloading. So you guys shouldn't have to wait much longer, however wasn't sure if it was a result of my complaint to them or not.

If in Australia you can email uptodatesupport-au@apple.com with your confirmation code to enquire if it is actually going to come or not, or what the problem is. Not sure you will even get a reply from this either. I have rang Apple and only get 72 hours, 72 hours.......I have emailed uptodatesupport-au@apple.com and nada.

I must say this redemption code form and site is one of Apple more 'busted arse' idea's they have come up with. I mean they have a data base with every serial number of Apple computers sold, they have the dates they were sold, they have a system of software distribution in place (App Store) but yet, cant automate some sort of update download arrangement with all this in place.

I'm getting the feeling this fill out the form business is just to slow down the rate at which people download the new ML update, so as not to crash their servers. Which is not a dumb idea, but they could be honest about all this.

Yeah I have been told up to 72 hours as well. And getting a response back about this is almost impossible at the same time. I have still yet to receive my code either. I have called and sent emails to Apple with the pretty basic repsonse of "Don't call back until it's been at least 72 hours". I am thinking of buying Mountain Lion and then asking for a refund. I have also heard stories of people who had to get a second code because the first one didn't work - for Mountain Lion and Apple is sending wrong codes that are for OS X Server instead. I can't even get my first code. This is not fair how they are doing this. The requests should be answered in the order of which they were received, and they can't be being done that way or I probably would have had my code by now as I submitted my form as soon as it allowed me on Wednesday.

I called support yesterday. Was told that I my request was approved and the support rep tried to resend my key until he escallated to find out that sending the key via email is expected to take approx 72 hours.

This is my first experience with Apple support as I have already had Windows machines until now. Needless to say, I was expecting far better considering the premium paid for a Macbook Retina.

Well, after 40+ hours I finally got both of my emails this morning at 7:04 (eastern timezone). Currently downloading.

If you all reach your 72 hour mark just give Apple Support a call. You will get your free copy. From what I had read a few times a few people were told that on day one Apple had over 3 million people submit claims when the servers first went up. We all kinda caused a few server issues that they had to work out.

I have also applied for a code and it has been over 24 hours. This should be an instant process. Compare the serial number with the store that sold the computer and match the dates. As simple as that. This should be an automated system and should auto generate codes for the free upgrade. Why is this such a huge problem Apple????? Please deliver what you promise!!!
