Panic. All my email has disappeared from iCloud. I did not delete it, and now it's working again, but only from today. What happened to my old emails?

Sorry for the long header, but this is my first question.

Today, for no apparent reason, my iCloud inbox/sent items/junk/trash everything has disappeared from all my devices. I checked iCloud, and there's nothing up there either. I did not delete all my email, either intentionally or by accident.

Meanwhile, iCloud is now working again, but all the old mails are gone, I'm hoping not forever.

How do I recover all this missing material, which is essential both to my business and personally?

thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

This sounds as if you need the attentions of MobileMe Support (I know you're on iCloud but there is no free support for that unless you happen to have AppleCare, and MobileMe Support have helped some people). Go to http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/ww/ and select your country. In the next window click on a category to expand it, then on a subject to get a link to 'live chat'.

Yep, exactly the same thing happened to me at lunch time today. All my emails gone from iPhone and Macbook Air. New ones coming in but no trace of the old stuff, not even via ICloud website.

Words cannot express how angry, stunned and disappointed I am with Apple right now. Apart from "angry", "stunned" and "disappointed", that is. This has undermined my confidence in Apple and I'm now looking to switch to a more reliable email account: google searches have now revealed to me this is not a new problem.

Apple, please get this fixed once and for all.

I wish I could say " Good Afternoon",

Has anyone,,,on this site,,or others,,,,, heard anything from Apple,,,except you've been assigned a case number , you are in "troubleshooting mode", and , we will get back to you?????

I have received nothing, nada, zip. Not even a confirmation of the issue or, guesstamate of time to repair.

Some have suggested that their inputs was...." ,,,, this may take a day or two....". Fine. I would just like to see an official Apple confirmation of the issue,,,and, the steps being put forth to fix it !! And, for you Apple apologists out there,,,, wasn't the ICloud backup feature suppose to be Backup,,,,,or, why should we have to call (or, try to call) Apple when they could send out an alert to ICloud/mobile me customers.......or, why are not the customer service folks up to speed on the issue (especially after 10-18 hours after the initiation of their new delete customer email program),,,or,,, do you , the Apple worshippers,,,,really believe the this ICloud is more reliable than other email options?????

As with other folks on this thread, when at work (fortune 100 company),,,when asked about Apple,,,,I will hesitate,,,,,,and , at least listen to other options.

Again, sorry for the rant... I do not even want to think about the coming efforts I have to go though ,if they cannot fix this.

regards,

jack

Same story here. Called apple support, who claimed i am the only one who had this issue. They also gave me a temp password and am supposed to talk to them on thursday. they said they only kept backups for a couple of days, so the longer this goes on, the less likely they will be able to restore the old emails.

i, for one, will no longer keep any emails in the cloud. what a painful lesson -- years of emails, gone in an instant.

I am in the same boat....Many very important financial docs. When I got home I unplugged my home wifi and opened my MBPR and all my email folders are there.....As soon as I turned on my Ipad with 4g they disapeared....

Now I am accessing my old folders on a laptop that I cannot turn wifi on as the icloud will delete all of my files if wifi is on......

Cmon apple this has cost me a day of business and I need my icloud email folders..

Talked to a level 3 tech...Super nice but he is waiting for engineering to reply

What is going on with Mac mail and icloud ?????????.....I am about to switch everything out of here

Can we get a reply apple????? And are we going to get our old emails and folders back ? HELP PLEASE

Are we a SMALL number ? Why has one of my mac accounts been affected and not the other - does iCloud really work ? Like many others this is not a nice lesson learnt and I will look for other ways to do what apple mail cannot do. Ie: Dropbox

Please post something lets see how small a number we are !

Make a noise this is not acceptable
