What's Up with these random playback pauses on iTunes that never get fixed?

MacBook Pro 17 (Spring 2010)

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor

7200 RPM Hard Drive

8 GB RAM

OSX 10.7.4

iTunes 10.6.3

iTunes randomly pauses and starts up again. (This is happening with Quicktime too, when playing videos.)

Agree with Pepper Chico, there is no viable solutions anywhere.

Same problem here on iTunes 10.6.3 where EVERY song pauses every few seconds. Doesn't matter if a song was purchased on iTunes or imported from CDs. Furthermore, this is a brand new MacBook Pro. I only got it three days ago. So far the songs I've listened to play to the end, but still not enjoyable with the pauses. Awful.

I ran CleanMyMac and that has seemed to take care of the problem, for me.

Hey man. I also have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (13") with 16GB RAM and Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and iTunes 11.0.2

When I play music the songs will pause with 2 seconds left. This happens very often. I will have to hit next (if I hit play it re-pauses immediately) and then hit play each time to get the next song to play. It's very annoying...

Although I thought I had fixed this problem with CleanMyMac, the problem still exists and I have no clue why.

Run Activity Monitor, set it to show all processes and keep an eye on it while you're using iTunes. Do you see anything suddenly spiking the CPU when those pauses occur?

I'm on Windows 7, also having the same problem with iTunes random pausing. So, this is not OS related problem, but the iTunes itself. I think this pauses problem started since version 10.xxx . I always upgrade my iTunes hoping the next version will fix it.

C'mon iTunes developers, I love this product because of the usefullness for my many apple devices. But, I'm considering abandoning it for music desktop playback.

You may have SoundFlower items on your mac: uninstall that (a lot of places where the remnants are). You can check if you have anything from SoundFlower in the Sound Applet in System Preferences.

I do use SoundFlower, but I can't get rid of it becaue it is absolutely essential for me.

Is there no alternative? it causes oft crashes.

There are alternatives: google soundflower alternatives. I have no experience with the alternatives.

Although, there may be an alternative, I am not aware of one. I've used SoundFlower for 7 years and the iTunes pausing issue is more recent. If I run CleanMyMac often, that seems to keep iTunes somewhat in check.

CleanMyMac is an unnecessary tool.

It does not do anything for you more than OSX already does itself, and it slows down the mac a bit, can cause problems (although not having heard often.

Please download Etrecheck ( http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck ), run it and paste the result here. maybe we can find the cause of the issue when it is not SoundFlower.

That the problems were not there in the beginning of the "7 years" does not say anything: you are useing a totally different OS now (64bit and....).

I'm also having this problem, itunes pausing 2 seconds before the end of a track when using airplay. I think it only happens when I'm streaming to the apple tv though, not noticed it on my other sets of speakers.
