My iPhone 4s won't shut off, it just restarts itself after a second

When I try to shut my phone off I slide the "slide to power off" thing it's circle pops up like its shutting off and then after a second the apple icon pops up and the phone turns back on. Help meeee!

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Thanks to everyone for the information and suggestions in the thread. I had the same problem after my son replaced my iPhone 5S with his iPhone 4S. Cleaning the dock connector was worth it on the off-chance that it would fix the problem: I used a toothbrush and electronic solvent cleaner, but there was no improvement. Bought a replacement dock connector online (heeding warnings to avoid salvaged dock connectors that might have water damage), and that has cured the problem. Almost feels like an upgrade!

If all else fails,


We ae going to Force Restore your iPhone,


Hold the Home button and the On/Off button.


Keep holding, ignore the red slider and the Apple logo, just keep holding until you see the Connect to iTunes logo,


Then connect to computer/Mac and restore from backup,


Or you could just keeping holding the Home button and the Off/On button until the iPhone turns off.
