iPhone 5 preorder says it will ship in two weeks

A tip for next time - don't order an iPhone at midnight thru the Apple web site. It is swamped with people all hitting the site and the web servers get overloaded. Within 1 hour they sold out the original stock that ships in a week. Orders after that take two weeks.

What I recommend: always order thru the Apple Store app on your existing iPhone (assuming you have one) and not the web site. I ordered thru the iPhone Apple Store app and it took less than 30 seconds with no delays. That's because it goes thru a different path and most people don't think to order their next iPhone from their existing iPhone.

After refreshing www.att.com and the Apple Store link over and over from 12 midnight-1am, I finally tried the Apple Store app on my iPhone and my order went through without a hitch except for the fact I didn't get an email confirmation. I can login to my account on the Apple store web site and see my order stating that its processing and delivers 9/21.

I ordered 2 iPhone5's this morning for my brother and I and mine said "Available to ship: in 2 weeks delieverd by October 2" and at first my brothers said "arrives within 5 days of shipping" but now it says the same 2 week thing and said October 5... I'm just confused as to what that really means... does it mean on September 21 it will take 2 weeks for my iphone to come or will it take 2 weeks from today for my iphone to come? someone please help!?!?!

it means your phone will ship 2 weeks from today and you will have it by 10/5

do you know if i can pick up the phones instead after september 21? i really don't want to wait all the way until october

I also ordered my iPhone 5 at about 1:45 am PT and during my ENTIRE checkout process it said delivers on 9/21. But this morning when I checked my email it said in two weeks. And there is no getting ahold of apple. Apparently now that they have my money they don't want to let me even choose to sit on hold so that I can get help and clarification on my order!

I know! That is the most frustrating thing. The line just hangs up and doesn't let you go in queue. If you literally keep calling it will eventually go through. I think I got to over 100 redials before getting connected.

Well I sold my iPhone 4S 64GB for $450 and purchased my iPhone 5 64GB for $435 (after tax). Pretty much paid for itself 🙂

So let me get this straight (and yes, I'm asking what could be a dumb question)...available to ship: delivers 9/21 means I should get mine on 9/21 or expect a later time? Sorry for over thinking it :-)

You will get yours on 9/21.

My order has updated to 'Preparing for shipment' with a delivery date still at 21/9

Ordered mine at 0630 edt yesterday with a 2 week ship time. Arrive by October 5. Going out of town the 4th. Hope it comes before then. I think it's bull apple started these pre sales at such an odd hour for most of the country. By the time they hit the edt time zone they were practically sold out to the pdt time zone. I won't cancel because I'll just wait even longer if I do. I won't be one of those people at the stores with a low chance of getting one because I don't camp out. just hope it comes before I leave :(. Keep checking my status and has been processing since yesterday morning with the same date. Called them to see if I could pay for expedited shipping and they told me to call back next week.

I guess I'll wait too, but I still think it's wrong to make those of us that pre-ordered on launch day wait a couple weeks, when they'll have plenty at the stores for people to just walk in and buy. What's the point of pre-ordering if people can just walk in off the street and get them before we do?

My order still says its processing.... But still with a 9/21 hopping date. Should I be worried ?

If apple says 9/21 that is your date, my oreder used to say that but I guess that they decided that they needed more for in stores that morning and bumped some of us back. Obviously we don't really matter to them! They just want to get the huge release day hype rather then taking care of their customers. Apple is losing some srious points in my book on this. I realize that not everyone can get is on launch day but to be bumped back is just a bunch of crap!
