Any updates from anyone on iPhone 5 shipping? (for people w/ Oct. 5 delivery)

Lol, yep we are sure. If there was one of us would've gotten our phone already and the tracking info wouldn't have changed from Korea.

what I am wondering is ....I was okay with the Oct 5th., then they told me Sept 28th - (so now getting excited) and then they tell me Sept 27th (so....although it is not the worse thing, I am pretty disappointed) why didn't they just leave the Oct 5th date and notify us the day before it actually would arrive?

I totally agree it's all about managing expectations.

My husband can tell me he's not getting home from work until 10pm and if he gets home at 9:45pm I'm pleasantly surpised and psyched. But if he tells me he's getting home at 9pm and get's home at 9:30pm I'm annoyed and worried - even though he gets home earlier in that instance.

It's not about being so nuts that you can't wait, it's about getting excited because you've been expecting something.

I agree with you. It's managing expectations. I ordered two phones very early on the 14th, but missed the available launch allottment, like most of you. My order for both said October 5th. So OK, I adjusted my expectation. Then a week later, one phone said preparing to ship, followed the next day with it shipped. The other phone however, didn't update for two more days. Then after checking tracking my phone magically went from China, to Korea, to Alaska, to Louisville and my delivery date which had been adjusted to 9/28, changed to 9/27. The other phone didn't seem to be moving anywhere and the date it was now being promised was 10/2. Then it moved and the date was moved to 10/1. Cool.

So today, even after checking this morning, my status was delivery 9/27 - today, by the end of business. I leave my signed release form with a neighbor who was going to be home today to accept my phone. UPS comes and goes to the area, no phone. So, I check the status and the delivery date is changed [again] and now says it's supposed to be tomorrow. And the other phone all of the sudden is also in Louisville, and it says delivery tomorrow.

Being just a bit frustrated (not because I didn't get my phone, but because I have no realistic understanding WHEN I'm getting my phone), I called UPS. I was routed from desk to desk and finally I get a guy who says a huge shipment was held in Louisville for distribution and both my phones will be delivered tomorrow. We'll see......

I tried to explain to him that it's frustrating for people who work, and need to have someone accept their order and not knowing when their order is really being delivered is what's frustrating. He was polite, but what did I really expect him to say? Just be honest with the delivery date. That's really all we're asking for.

ETA: I'm in Tampa, FL., and I just checked the status of both phones and they are both now in Orlando. That's about 1.5 hours from Tampa, So, it would seem that delivery tomorrow is realistic.

Mine's in Kentucky Now. Blurg! It was in Alaska this afternoon, and now it's in KENTUCKY. I am in California. It doesn't have any delivery date at all any more. Sniffle sniffle ...

when I went to bed last night the delivery date was gone - and it said it departed Alaska for Kentucky, but this morning it says it is in CT. and delivery is to be by the end of the day ....again...., but it does seem possible at least! So there is hope for today!!

My phone arrived in Alaska yesterday.... I sure hope mine has departed for Kentucky today.... would love to have my phone delivered on my actual delivery date!!

Mine says it's in my home town so I should see it today as long as the tracking updates to Out For Delivery in the next 2 hours. If I get it today, it will arrive on the date Apple said it would in my "one of your items has shipped" email lending credence to the claim that UPS held the shipment to satisfy Apple's mandated delivery date.

it's 8:49 am East Coast time - and mine is marked "out for delivery" !!!! pretty amazing considering where it's been in the last 24 hours, lol. -🙂

UPS headquarters is in Louisville, so it makes perfect sense that they're all being routed through there. @Mahnid....have you checked tracking this morning...it's likely in California by now...you'll probably get it today.

No change on my "exception" yet, but there seems to be a couple of hour lag in updates. Not completely without hope....yet. 😉
