wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

This is the disease that is Apple. They spend so much time trying to make this awful product look pretty that the underlying technology and functionality suffers.

Hey Apple, MORONS, are you listening? YOU BROKE THE ABILITY TO DO WIFI SYNCING WITH YOUR LATEST DISEASED UPDATE!!!.

If I plug the ipod in to the computer, turn OFF wifi sync then turn it back ON, then unplug the ipod, everything works and itunes sees the ipod via wifi. But if I close itunes and reopen it, the ipod is GONE and will not come back over wifi unless I go through those steps again.

Howzabout fix, MORONS? Or maybe it's just time to switch 100% to Google Music. Amazingly that works 100% of the time.

To say the problem as been resolved for Mac users since Nov 10th is uneducated at best.

Unfortunately the problem has NOT been resolved for a LOT of Mac users as of yet. I was hoping iTunes 11 would be the hero but it wasn't. This is getting absolutely rediculous. One of the main features of iTunes that Apple has is wifi sync and it doesn't work for a lot of people.

If you look at 99% of the posts that people say "this fixed my problem" they are always followed up with "well, the problem is back again."

Someday, maybe someday i will have my wonderful wifi sync back again for both my iPhone 4s and my iPad 3rd gen. Or, maybe not.

Well that all depends now doesn't it? On whether a LOT of Mac users have actually taken the advice. I suspect you haven't or else just haven't followed the advice fully.

Secondly, the problem wi-fi can and does and WILL drop even after this if iTunes is left open for an extended period of time, but the problem is fixed regardless. An iTunes restart returns the connection ... I think I stated this. As did Fapapa. For me this is the fix. And it's still fixed..

Don't forget to remove the dash from your computer name now..

Any solution that requires "restart a program" is a work-around at best and not a solution. People are coming up with some very inventive ideas and that is the other clue that this is a core bug in iTunes. Multiple machines, operating systems and devices means the problem cannot be fixed by resetting a router. Rebooting the computer works once but who wants to reboot their computer every time, especially when it wasn't necessary prior to iTunes 10.7.

Is this difficult to solve? Definitely or Apple would have solved it by now. My concern is the absolute cone of silence from Apple even acknowledging this problem exists. An update or two from an Apple spokesperson acknowleding our frustration would go a long way to calming me down.

Fapapa's solution does not work for me and my iPhone and mac.

When I plug my phone in (2 iPhones and 2 iPads here), sometimes they sync and sometimes they don't. Prior to iOS 6 they always synched every time.

If I manually initiate the sync from the iphone sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This is despite Fapapa's solution.

If I manually initiate the sync from iTunes, again it works sometimes. This is the most reliable way for me.

I'm finding the apple now is very different to the apple of a few years ago. I'm spending as much time to get things to work as I did with Windows.

The only fix I still have found running Windows is to restart the mobile device service. Since WIFI sync worked prior to version 10.7 of Itunes it is apparent that Apple broke something with the Itunes update/IOS 6. Talking to someone at the Apple store confirms that they hear this issue from a lot of customers.

Proper implementation of this feature should not necessitate rebooting of anything. Only time will tell if IOS 6.1 and/or Itunes 11.01 will finally address this mess.

I have found that power-cycling my iPad works too -- Would you mind seeing if power-cycling your iOS device works on your system?

(It's not a permanent solution because eventually sync starts failing again, but it would be useful to know whether restarting the iOS device works)
