wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Well, time to see if 11.0.1 fixed it. I'm not holding out hope. Downloading now...

Sounds like they're trying to pin the blame on routers. Lord knows that if they do fix the problem they'll reintroduce it in iOS 7.

Can folks here confirm that Itunes 10.6.3 is the last version that was working fine with wifi sync. I am thinking of rolling back to that version and see what happens, but I am wondering if it is still working with ios 6 and above.

OK this post is way too long to see if someones addressed this - but this was my fix and all the other ones in here didn't do a thing for a fix this issue. This was finally the fix for me -

My fix and it actually worked!

With Mt. Lion, you cannot remove iTunes. You get a message that it is required by the OS...

Correct just complete what you can of the instructions and install iTunes again. As I said above it fixed my issues with iTunes finding my phone and synching issues I was having.

I got the exact same message with Lion.

I did uninstall the Mobile device service before I installed Itunes 11. There was no change in functionality of WIFI Sync.

I am running Winodws 7 Pro.

iOS 6.0.2 is out and it apparently fixes some wifi issues. Here's to hoping!

Oddly enough the update is only or the iPhone 5 and iPad mini. I have a gen 4 iPad and no update for that :( it still seems to be working though.

iPhone 4s iOS 6.0.1 iTunes 11.0.1.12 Using the cable that came with my 4S.

For me I tried multiple things and it finally started working. First I forwarded the ports that eggbox23 posted on page 4 on router and that seemed to have fixed it. Went back to work happy. Came back home and it wouldn't sync over wifi again 😟. So I tried adding it to my firewall on my computer but it was already added. But I read that doesn't mean it always opens the ports so I looked for a way to open the ports and found this page: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-open-a-port-in-the-windows-7-firewa ll.html

So I did that and still wouldn't sync. So I went and did some other things for awhile and took my phone with me. But left the computer on and iTunes open. Came back 10 minutes later and the phone was open to syncing to. So I figured maybe it just takes a long while now and thought nothing of it. Closed iTunes after Syncing and went away. Come back later and again the phone won't sync when I open iTunes. Then I started thinking about what was different and it came to me. Everytime I went to sync my phone it had been plugged in and charging. 2 minutes after uplugging my phone from the cable it showed up to sync. I'm all like 😕? So hopefully this helps some people who have problems syncing thier phone.

I can confirm that 10.6.3 was indeed the last version to completely and properly support WiFi Sync as described by Apple. The strange behaviors and errors started afterward. I can even confirm that if you revert to 10.6.3, devices will sync wirelessly again without any workarounds, charms, prayers, etc. The only issue there is that I have no idea if 10.6.3 will properly support newer devices, as I now have an iPhone 5 and iPad 4th generation. I have not tried syncing these two devices with 10.6.3, but I can confirm older iterations of these devices will work properly. This is on Windows 7 x64 AND Windows 8 Pro x64.

I cannot get my iPad to Wi-Fi sync at now bah...
