wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Hear, Hear!!

Point taken.

I'm with you on that.

Furthermore, it'd be nice if they'd have employee comments (as the voice of Apple) present in this user dialogue at least somethere in all of this. Like "we're working on a fix for this issue as fast as we can...", etc., or something like "thanks for your patience while our engineers figure out the best fix for this issue..." would be nice. You sound like you've been an Apple consumer for quite some time and if so, then you know that they have traditionally been quiet on things like this. We know however, that they are reading this thread, and that if history serves, that they are hearing all of this and working on a fix for the problem. Of that, I am optomistic. Not that it is the 'right' way to handle it per se, but it is not the first time that they have remained quiet on the other end before releasing an update that repairs 'the faulty code' or whatever it is here that is causing this systematic snafu. Apple has delivered time and time again and this is why we buy their products: they are well engineered, well made both inside and out, and are most always a joy to use. Yes, there is the exception....like this one. Although it is unjust that this one is so long in the running and that they have been so quiet on the issue, I still feel confident that a fix is on the way.

I know that we will not stop trying to fix it ourselves, or talking about it on this forum or in the press, therefore the day of emancipation from this issue, the day of the discovery of exactly what this snafu is about is merely a matter of a count down, and we, the loyal customers of Apple will certainly recieve our fix, of that we can be sure.

This I believe. Call it optimism or whatever you want, but Apple surely must be in the throes of a solution here. Go ahead, you probably want to chant "MobileMe, MobileMe, MobileMe". If it makes you feel better then go ahead and do that.

A fix is still on the way. We have not been forgotten. We are heard.

This is a self-help only service provided by Apple.

If you try to talk to tech-support or engineering employees at Apple about these forms they will not even acknowledge that they exist.

After the iOS and iTunes update so far so good. I have an iPhone 5 and gen4 iPad. My iPhone would have less problems using wi-fi sync then my iPad. I could sync from my iMac to my iPad wirelessly but most of the time I could not sync from my iPad to my iMac. It mostly only worked one way. When I did get it working it would stop if I turned off my iPad. The only way to get it working again was to close iTunes then reopen it. The wi-fi and cellular settings are the same on both IPad and iPhone.

Since the updates I have not lost wi-fi sync on my iPhone or iPad. I can turn them off all night and they still work when I turn them on in the morning. I'm not saying this will continue to be the case. I'll let you know next Wednesday if it is still working. I will not restart iTunes or my computer for this test.

BTW I set my computer to not go to sleep as my iOS devices were losing connection with the computer even with "wake for network access" selected.

Best of luck everyone.

I'm not sure about checking for bonjour errors on a Mac, but on Windows they are all in the event viewer. Every time I restart the bonjour service or itunes, I get this:

Googling this error will lead you to issues with the way it's trying (or NOT trying) to use iPv6. I've completely wiped v6 from my machine and that did nothing. I give up. I will either remote in and restart my machine to get it to sync (works sometimes) or directly connect with a cable to sync. either way it doesn't work as advertised anymore and it's a huge disappointment.

After applying the latest iTunes and iOS updates I am no longer experiencing wi-fi sync problems. I was however experiencing problems with the "wake for network access" option on my iMac. When the computer would go to sleep I would loose access to home sharing and Wi-fi sync.

When set to never sleep wi-fi sync worked perfectly. Even after turning off/resetting or leaving my network everything still worked. I set the computer to sleep and the problems started again. To use wi-fi sync I would have to go downstairs and physically wake up my iMac. That was a bit of a bother.

Last week I shut down my computer and unplugged it for ten minutes. After turning on the computer all problems have stopped. The computer is set to go to sleep and waking it up and wi-fi sync have worked now for one week.

I have read in the home sharing topic that beta users have reported the newest OSX update

fixes the sleep problems. Here's hoping...

Simple Solution "iTune-WLAN-Sync"

I've found a quite simple solution, which works for me now over a timeframe of 3 weeks without any problems. To manage and solve the Apple WLAN-Synch problems I've made no changes in the settings of firewall and no changes in the settings of WLAN-router.

As we all know, the " iTunes-WLAN-Sync" will run after you have switched your PC-LAN-access one time OFF and ON. Therefore I have installed a small icon on my desktop. When I click on that icon my PC is disconnected from LAN and by double click on this icon my PC is reconnected to LAN. This procedure costs me just about 3 seconds time. That's all you have to do, nothing else!

After that I start iTunes an and all my devices are found! This solution not just works "a little bit" or "sometimes" but forever with 100% success!

My equipment: iPhone 5, iPad 4, iTunes (11.0.2.26), Windows 7
