wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

I have had MSE for 2+ years, and the issue exists with MSE as well. I have done everything you mention in the link, and at no time have I had AVG, and the problem still is there. It is an iOS/iTunes issue, not anything else.

Many people have had this issue since iOS 6 and iTunes 10. I applaud your ingenuity and tenacity (along with others) in trying to fix this. Too bad you don't work for Apple, because they haven't done a single thing to fix it, no matter how many people have tried and escalated it to them. Until they care and try to fix this (which honestly I think they don't care about it) this problem will remain.

Hey Rob,

I'm sorry if you're a bit cynical...but you are reading information on a free forum..where I posted free advice..and yes...its just so happens to be linked to my website where you can read the information for FREE. I took time to write out a post, on a site I've dedicated time and money to. I spent 3 hours today troubleshooting this particular issue and felt that I would post my findings to help others who may encounter the same problem. There are 39 PAGES of replies on this topic and it's easy to find on google..so rest assured if it doesn't solve YOUR problem it will surely solve the problem for others.

Again...sorry if looking at my free website that has ONE sidebar of ads is a big pain to you, but you don't really have to drop an attitude on a dude thats just trying to help you and the other THOUSANDS of people with this problem out.

Good luck with your issues man, sorry my information was not helpful in solving it. The bottom line is, until APPLE actually makes WIFI syncing just "work" how it should, you are going to have to depend on guys like me to provide you with some advice or figure it out on your own.

Yes the techbuyblog, I have tried the whole gamut ad nauseam. And, have spent MANY hours more than any Apple engineer/tech support rep/software designer has trying to get this to work as it did < iOS6. You're right, YMMV, but in most cases, the issue will remain (or return after a 'fix') until Apple addresses the issue since the upgrade to iOS6 (as the title of this loooooong thread states).

I am glad it works for you, but you stand a more than reasonable chance that the issue will return. To be honest, I believe this is a fool's errand. Apple has moved on, and deems Wi-Fi sync old technology, otherwise this would be addressed by them by now. It's sad that customer's are spending more time on this than the company.

There are 39 pages on this particular thread (and it looks like you've posted your link on at least 4 threads about this issue), and a good many people posting here are also accomplished computer people who've spent as many (or more) hours on this issue, and have also offered free advice trying to help others. I'm not sure I've seen even one other post that, instead of offering a solution here, was a link to their own site. Hey, not a big deal, you can do what you want. Maybe there will be a lot of posts soon that thank you for helping them. I guess we'll see. I do wish you luck.

Is my almost 500 word article not considered "help" just because I posted it on my blog? I post on the thing literally TWICE a year...it makes $100/year in advertising money. Does it look like I'm trying to force you to click lewd popups and help you find hot young singles in your area? No. I have a proposed solution that may help some, SOME..not all. Myself and one of my employees spent a LOT of time on this today and I felt like throwing our collective info in the pot. You can take it or leave it. I'm not saying I'm the only "accomplished computer person" here...I'm just trying to help out brother. It's the internet...if you don't like it...just carry on man.

I've got Windows 8 on my machine, and the work around that I've come up with is putting a link to Services.msc in my taskbar (for easy access). You can do this by going to Administrative Tools and dragging 'Services' into your taskbar.

After I launch iTunes, if I notice my devices are not being seen I open up 'Services' from my taskbar and restart Apple Mobile Device Service.

Within no time at all my devices are then seen and I can sync as I please.

This work around has a 100% success rate for me and the only thing I have to do is this extra step by restarting the service.

I hope this helps others out there.
