wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Same issues as everyone. Wi-Fi sync no longer works with iOS upgrade. (Windows Pro 64 bit, Itunes 10.7.0.21, iPhone 4S with iOS6) This also affects music Home Sharing. Upgraded the phone OS via USB cable. I tried with no success the router and phone power cycling to reset. I tried to set the http proxy to auto without success. 😟Whatever happened to software testing before deployment?

I am not sure if this can resolve your issue, but I have the same issue and I don't want to turn off my firewall as I do lot of secure office transactions over internet.

I am using MAC (iPad and iPhone 4S) and PC (iPhone 3GS) for my devices to sync (All on iOS 6).

While digging through the settings of my router (DLink), I found that a service called UPnP is disabled, just for curosity I enabled the service and boom..all my devices iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S started displaying in iTunes via Wi-Fi.

Hope this may help someone with the same issue.

I have the same problem with the iPhone5, the onoly way I can sync is by pluging the phone into the computer. My wifes 4s used to sync but that doesn't seem to work now. Both machines are Windows 7 Home Premium (x64).

Tried turning off theWifi on the PC, setting the HTTP Proxy to Auto, rebooting the phone, opened ports TCP/IP 3689 and UDP 5353, turned off the Firewall etc. Nothing!

Please fix this one as well with the next OS update.

As I was afraid of, the fix worked only once. If I reboot my Windows computer I can get each device to sync once but then iTunes won't recognize them again. Sometimes the device disappears from the list of devices in iTunes. Wi-Fi sync has never been the most consistent product but it was working well prior to the last iTunes update when I joined the rest of these people with the problem on two separate windows 7 (64 bit) computers. Can I ask that people posting on this thread identify if the fix works to sync the device more than once without shutting down iTunes in between?

I think I know why I was having Wifi Sync issues. If you have an iPhone and it doesn't sync wifi or if iTunes doesn't show your device with wifi sync, then go to Settings<General<Cellular and then turn off iTunes under 'Use Cellular Data for'. Under that subttitle I noticed there are ON and OFF options for iCloud Docs, iTunes, FaceTime, Passbook Updates, Reading List. Since they're under 'Use Cellular Data for' I think if you have any of those options on, it may interfer with the sync over wifi with iTunes. Meaning if you have the option to sync iTunes over cellular data on, then that's what it'll do instead of wifi sync (even though it didn't sync of network data because Sprint isn't the best) with itunes. It's like a double feature and I guess it cancels it out. As soon as I turned it off and I went into iTunes it showed my phone right away.

I knew it wasn't an iOS 6 issue because I have my iPod 4th gen on iOS 6 and wifi sync always worked well with that (even in the pass), and being it's not a phone I didn't have the toggle switch for anything under 'Use Cellular Data for' obviously. I was starting to think maybe it was an iTunes issue because with every update it can be a little buggy here and there with features. Also, if you notice your FaceTime is a little flaky then turn the toggle off for cellular data use for that as well. Because I had it on and I was on wifi and it was horrible (the other person said) on the other end. So basically cellular data being ON for certain features cancels out Wifi data or usage when it comes to features. Once I turned that toggle off FaceTime was smooth, like it should have been because my wifi is legit and I've FaceTime on my iPod before and never had complaints. Hopefully Apple can fix this cancel out issue.

Same problem here! 😟

Win 7 Untimate 64bit - fully updated.

Nothing changed.

Used wifi sync without problem for years, including a few days or so ago.

Noticed today wifi sync wouldn't work. Prior to OS6 update.

Rebooted everything !!

Updated to OS6 - same problem.

Works find with cable - nothing via wireless. Go into ipod settings>General>itunes wifi sync>sync option greyed out.

itunes on PC doesn't pick up either of my i devices (and ipad)

wifi works on devices tho - can happilly use internet over wifi etc...

I think its a itunes updated that has caused the problem as this problem existed for me PRIOR to OS6 update when all that could have happened was a itunes update !!??

Bruddy annoying as my wife is disabled and having to keep getting up and manually connecting to PC for her is a REAL PAIN in both sences of the word !!!

Sort it ASAP please !!!

Wifi sync not working for me as well. iphone 4 and iPad2. Both which worked prior to the io6/iTunes update. Changing the WiFi proxy to Auto did not work for me. But I noticed I can manually trigger the wifi sync from either the device or iTunes. What I think is that there is some bug in the device software recognizing that the charger is plugged in.

Here's what just worked for me:

From iTunes on my PC I selected my phone from Devices.

At the top of the page I chose Apps

I randomly moved a couple of apps around one the computer, and hit apply (my goal was to see if it would change anything on my phone).

It went through the motions, and moved the apps on the phone.

Then, I tried to sync again.

It worked!!

This is after I tried restarting the computer, chaning the USB port, shutting of the phone and restarting.

I think this is really broken at IOS 6. I have an iPad 3 and a new iPhone 5 and neither will wifi synch the first try. If I plug in to my iMac, they synch automatically, and sometimes they will synch over wifi if I go into iTunes and choose the device and then click "synch." Also, "sometimes" after a successful wired syncvh, they will eventually do a wifi synch, but it is intermittent.

This appears to be a typical Apple bug, either in IOS 6 or Mt. Lion 10.8.2, and as usual, Apple will probably fix it silently in a future upgrade without ever acknowledging or admitting the problem publicly. There's something about that I like, but...

I am having the same problem too, after updating to iOS6, my iphone 4s and ipad 2 couldnt connect using wifi sync. Switching to another modem only makes wifi sync works on my iphone 4s but not my ipad 2. I am really frustrated! I am very sure this is new Apple ios/itunes software problem because it was all working fine in ios5. Thank God all my apps that allow wifi connect/sync are working fine in ios6.

Apple should come up with a fix. This is really frustrating...

I am sure they will come out with a fix when iTunes 11 hits later this month. I don't expect them to fix 10.7 since it's just around the corner. No sense in fixing something that will be obsolete in a couple of weeks.

iTunes 7 is what's broken. I went back to 10.6 and all is fine with all devices. With 10.7, all are broken (4 iPads, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPod touches).
