Streetviewer app works well for street views. BTW, Apple's turn by turn direction implementation works really well - love the smooth vector graphics rendering, no jerky motions like other navigation apps, nice integration with Siri, clear clean screen with just the right amount of info during turn-by-turn directions. Even shows the turn-by-turn directions on top part of screen if you go to some other screen/app during navigation - which is not the case for other navigation apps I used. IMO Apple did great job on this front. Now just needs to fix that 1% of the map data.

Guys, just remember, this is an "upgrade" (whatever that means....) Same thing happens with the Facebook app, in the iPad you cannot save a picture in your "Camera Roll" folder.... actually, you follow the procedure - it's built into the Facebook App - but the picture goes nowhere. It works with other tablets but not the iPad.

Re the comment to use flyover -- great for those who live in helicopters but for us earthbound streetview is a safety function as well as a business necessity. I was told by a surprisingly surly Apple employee today that the only mistake Apple made was apologizing for the map app debacle because after all, everyone makes mistakes. He went to great length to explain the company culture of take no prisoners/admit no fault, and that the apology defiled that company history. It was clearly not a single employee with an attitude, but reflected a heated controversy within Apple. As a loyal all-Apple user I am sad but curious to see if this might be the tipping point for the company. All it takes is one or two seemingly little blunders for customers to lose confidence and decide to check out the competition. Google reportedly will not make an iPad app for streetview -- why should they when they know that Apple customers are willing to check out Apple's competition? Apple was the innovator, but now it just provides another good product amongst many. The arrogance of the staff person today reflected a belief that Apple can do whatever it wants because it is Apple, and that the market will reward them just because they are Apple. I don't think it works that way but maybe they really do know everything. What I know is that there are tablets and phones out there that are serious competition to Apple, and losing street view means that now I have to go research them. Do any of you have a favorite tablet that I shoud check out?
