iOS 6 Music Not Really There

I have updated successfully to iOS 6 on an iPhone 4.

After restoring the backed up iPhone I happily found my music now on the phone. However, not all the music is actually on the phone. It skips between songs that it cannot find.

I am a member of iTunes match but the ability to download the 'missing' music is not present on any of the skipped tracks.

This is incredibly annoying. Has anybody else experienced the same and if so, have you found a solution?

Found a solution on another thread.. It actually worked!

1. Download and install iExplorer http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/

2. Plug in iPhone first, then open iExplorer

3. Delete the iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control folder (you can copy it to your laptop, just in case)

4. Reboot the iPhone

5. Turn on iTunes Match in settings.

6. Start Music app

Still no succes. Status quo. I´m about to give up. Have tried to restore the phone a couple of times. No change. I still can not remove the empty musicfiles from the phone. I can actually not o anything with the music. Not ad, not remove. If I only could play the music but its only text - empty files.

All works fine with my IPad. Just like before IOS6.

Perhaps I should start to verbaly threaten my phone.

I tried all the fixes mentioned - Restore, Turn off/on Match, etc. but finally found a fix that worked in a related post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3865948?start=30&tstart=0

Repeating the exact steps:

Used the ifunbox app (www.i-funbox.com) - it is free.

The path for the required files is Raw File System/iTunes_Control/iTunes

Deleted these three files (taking a leap of faith that I couldn't screw things up more than Apple already had):

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

Then reboot the iphone.

Completely solved the problem in 5 minutes (if you don't count the prior 3 hours attempting other fixes).

I don't have iTunes Match, but when I upgraded my iPod Touch to iOS 6, all my playlists and their contents disappeared completely from the iPod.

I found a cockamamie fix via a link at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3055886 - The fix itself is at http://osxdaily.com/2010/11/24/fix-for-no-content-on-iphone-ipod-after-ios-4-2-1 -update/

Here's the fix:

On your iPod, tap on “Settings” and then on “General” and then on “International”

Change your Language to another option, for example if your default is English, change it to Francais

Relaunch the iPod app and wait for the iPod library to update

Your music has returned; navigate back to Language settings and revert back to English (or your default)

It sounds completely crazy, but it actually worked: all my playlists magically showed up again on my iPod!

Solved it.

Downloaded IFunbox for PC, found the three files mentioned.

Deleted them. But it didnt work straight away, had to do it several times.

Think I deleted them, made adjustments in the Iphone settings to "sync via WiFi", "handle music manually".

I pulled all music from library to phone, then disconected the USB.

Phone synced for a couple of hours.

This morning nothing had changed.

But I turned the phone off, and then on again. Voilá, It worked. And there were much joy!

I had this problem also when I updated to iOS 6 software on my iPhone 4S. After removing the itunes match on the phone and itunes and it didn't fix the issue. The empty songs were removed but I just got the icloud hang up. I then tried to restore the phone to factory settings via the icloud and it would not complete it. I then restored the phone to factory settings as a new iphone and that fixed the music issue.
