IOS 6 airplay problem

- I currently have a iphone 4 and a ipad 2 both updated to ios6. When i am trying to send a video (ie. youtube, netflix ect.) to my apple tv 2 (from either device) it only plays the sounds (no video) this worked flawless before i updated to ios6. Any ideas?

On a side not airplay mirroring does work on my ipad 2 fine, just not normal airplay :/

Hi guys,

I encountered the same issues and finally cleared it with the following resolution:

- Reboot your Wi-Fi router.

- Turn on your "Airplane mode" in your iOS device and then turn it off.

That's all. This method is safe and you don't need to change and initialize your devices. This was successful on my iPod Touch (5Gen) plus Remote app + AppleTV (2Gen) + the latest iTunes on MacOS X Lion.

If possible, update your AppleTV's firmware and iTunes to the latest as well.

If the issue persists, try unregister/register the AppleID on your AppleTV/iOS device/iTunes. (I believe this may be unnecessary in most cases).

I guess that some new iOS6 packets that relates to AppleTV and AirPlay sometimes disturbs by some Wi-Fi routers. Thus rebooting the Wi-Fi router catches and passes the new packets from iOS6 devices and clears the issue.

I'm unsure why turning on/off the Airplane mode clears the issue. This looks a small discrepancy in the new iOS 6.

Note that this is just my speculation.

Cheers,

Go figure, their "Web Mobile" YouTube site works flawlessly with AirPlay ... The message says it can't play video on this "device", as if it think that only 4S and higher would do video via AirPlay ... I'll reply again once I test the same thing from my iPhone 5 Friday :)

Obviously a bug though ... Video works perfectly with other apps too, so Google vengeance on Apple's decision ? :)

Same problem here, it seems that the new Youtube app for iphone dos not implement airplay video, and only ask you to turn on Airplay mirroring. But it's not as good as before this way, because you can not place your video in background and surf safari and you can not have true full screen. 😟

This was my most used app, why on earth did I upgraded 😠

I wrote earlier this week about my iPhone 4 and decided to get a 5 yesterday... And yes, guess what, works flawlessly.

Google limited this to the most recent devices even of the old app and the web one works with older devices... Is google trying to troll us to think Apple is the one to blame because that's what they usually do for "new" features ? My videos from the apple app are working fine ... It is just that new google crap that has been limited wrongly...

iPhone 5 works flawlessly? Really?

Not my iPhone 5. It simply appears to be a limitation in the new YouTube app. Only audio plays on AppleTV through AirPlay.

Your friends Airplay did not work because probably you did not put his Apple ID and password into your ATV prior to trying Airplay. The iOS and ATV link requires Apple ID match as well.

FYI, my iPhone 5 and my wife's 4S are working perfectly well with Airplay. We are able to use both IDs on the same ATV thank to the new software update which let us add more than one account to ATV. The issue with Youtube is I think Google problem. Google needs to fix their app but you can use Jasmine and also the inbuilt Youtube pp in ATV - they both work like charm.

Great, I have found someone with the exact same problem I have, but with B&W A7. I have a cisco router, using TP-Link powerline wifi extender, connecting the B&W via the ethernet port on the powerline wifi extender.

Airplay works fine, but then after the phone or mac or pad goes to standby the icon drops, and it drops from all devices. The only solution I have found is to reboot the powerline wifi extender (only that).

The problem only appears when connected to the powerline wifi extender. If I conenct to the cisco router it is visible and always visible.

Seems to be a problem with TP-Link to me.
