- I currently have a iphone 4 and a ipad 2 both updated to ios6. When i am trying to send a video (ie. youtube,netflix ect.) to my apple tv 2 (from either device) it only plays the sounds (no video) this worked flawless before i updated to ios6. Any ideas?
On a side not airplay mirroring does work on my ipad 2 fine, just not normal airplay :/

I encountered the same issues and finally cleared it with the following resolution:
- Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
- Turn on your "Airplane mode" in your iOS device and then turn it off.
That's all. This method is safe and you don't need to change and initialize your devices. This was successful on my iPod Touch (5Gen) plus Remote app + AppleTV (2Gen) + the latest iTunes on MacOS X Lion.
If possible, update your AppleTV's firmware and iTunes to the latest as well.
If the issue persists, try unregister/register the AppleID on your AppleTV/iOS device/iTunes. (I believe this may be unnecessary in most cases).
I guess that some new iOS6 packets that relates to AppleTV and AirPlay sometimes disturbs by some Wi-Fi routers. Thus rebooting the Wi-Fi router catches and passes the new packets from iOS6 devices and clears the issue.
I'm unsure why turning on/off the Airplane mode clears the issue. This looks a small discrepancy in the new iOS 6.
Note that this is just my speculation.

yes it works via airplay just like before i updated the i phone to i0s6 i downloaded the you tube app and it works perfectly
Those issues are caused from within the network so that's what you need to troubleshoot
The old YouTube app could run in the background. I often load a YouTube video, send it to my Apple TV thru AirPlay and then switch to Safari or Mail apps and browse or mail while watching YouTube.
The new app does not do this. A big disadvantage. That and the lack of street view in the new map app means I will NOT be upgrading to iOS6.
No video from Youtube (and other videoservices) on my TV anymore via Airplay using Xtreamer Prodigy.
Thats a very big disappointment, especially my kids (2 year old twins) used that a lot it was very user friendly.
The new Youtube app from Google is a downgrade, whish i had never upgraded to iOS6 😟
Same issues here. Got iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 3 - All iOS 6.0 . All stuck with Sound Playing on Apple TV3.
Had issues with MacBook Pro Retina AirPlaying video+sound on AppleTv, but now issue solved. However, framerate (FPS) is terrible on AppleTV mirroring video from MacBook Pro Retina. Has to be fixed too.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but I'm getting the audio only problem with itunes music vids. Was fine before updating, but now I can't get it straight on any device. Just to be clear, this is from the native iOS Videos app, not a third-party player. It's on an iPhone 4 in case that makes a difference.
I saw your post...it said you had an iPhone 4S and an Apple TV 3...Jasmine is air streaming from both my 4S and my 5 to my Apple TV 3...I'm streaming a YouTube video...no problems...

U still dont get the whole point: its obvious that iPhone 5 works flawlesly.
We just want apple to fix the bug causing problems with all the rest of Apple stuff, but iPhone 5.

I have an iPhone 4 and iPad 2, and can't get either to work with Apple TV since I upgraded both to ISO 6 !!!
I can't even find the "AirPlay" little icon! What is going on?!
Wish I had NOT upgraded, can't see any benefit.

Thank you for the heads up ... I just realized that my mirroring was left turned on so when I played the video via airplay, obviously it worked...
"Native" AirPlay then fails too on the iPhone 5 from YouTube. AirVideo, Safari, VLC and even Facebook videos are working just fine on the other hand.
Sorry for this confusion, I did not have "Mirroring" on my old 4 ... Getting used to ;)
same issue: after upgrading to iOS6 no AirPlay video on iPhone4 and ipad2!!! This is definitly an iOS issue and not a YouTube related issue. In my oppinion apple decided to switchof this functionality on purpose. Even the video app of apple won't work with my appletv2 anymore! I'm really very disappointed with apple and ios6. Maps app *****: no streetview, incorrect information on map app, no video via AirPlay and minor not relevant new features (supporting multiple signatures in mail at last but why no mailbox indicator in the mail list)....
Long gone are the days when I would upgrade anything Apple without serious consideration and research first!! I'm sticking with iOS 5 until all these kinks are ironed out. The maps app and lack of native YouTube is a killer blow for me.
Upgrade to IOS6 was a definite mistake:
Apple map gives wrong direction!? How can that be? Gmap works somewhat but in Safari not as before!
Downloaded Jasmin and can get to YouTube videos to work with "Airplay" but very clunky and not smooth. This also took reboot of both my iPhone4 and iPad2 to get "AirPlay" to work.
Very frustrated with this. Lessons learned, DO NOT upgrade with anything new from Aplles for at least 6 months.
Youtube airplay works for you on iphone 5? It doesn't for me. I tried it last night and had to resort to "mirroring" to see the content on my TV (Apple TV 3). Apple or Google need to get this to work - AirPlay was the ONLY reason I got an Apple TV. If they get rid of the feature, I will attempt to return the Apple TV.
