Just installed iOS6 on my iPhone 4S and thought I'd test the Maps app. I put in my directions and pressed the start button but thoughout my 2km Drive I got no sound instruction. I checked the Maps settings and the volume was up Loud. I also did a hard reset and still no sound. My model phone is MD241X/A.
any ideas ?
I am located in Ohio, USA. No reason for it not to be working here or anywhere else. In fact, there's no reason Apple should have advertised something once again that obviously wasn't tested thoroughly enough prior to the release date.
I had the same issue with the directions from Apple Maps in iOS 6 not being spoken on the iPhone 4s & tried the suggestions about restarting, changing settings, etc from this thread and others without success. I was getting the displayed directions all along, but no sound.
What I found was that if I plugged the iPhone 4s into the USB port in my car (my normal habit) then there were no spoken directions. However, if it was not plugged in at all or if it was plugged into a plain power port, then spoken directions were heard.
So, try a short trip without plugging in your iPhone 4s to see if it makes a difference.
I have had the audio work on and off and if I go to the setting/map and turn the audio off then back on it works... I'm starting to think that when the iphone 4s pairs with my car it breaks/disables it somehow.
For those getting turn by turn navigation in october, will apple release it tomorrow?
Wow. As the days go by, I am discovering more and more issues with the update. I live in the U.S. so I should have turn by turn voice directions. I do not. I lose sound, my volume buttons don't work, Siri emails instead of calls. Heavy sigh of disappointment.
Apple suddenly remove philippines and also indonesia and maybe other country from the maps turn by turn feature availibility website.

When iOS 6 launch, there was indonesia listed for the turn by turn, but it's suddenly gone now.
Chile also pulled ....
Is this Apple now? If they dare to put indonesia, phillipines, and any other countries on the list, apple has to fix the problems rapidly instead of removing the list. i am totally dissapointed! map is inaccurate, turn by turn is not available, what else you gonna remove apple??

The iphone 4 is completely capable of giving voice directions (see the mapquest app) - apple just
wants folks to upgrade to a newer phone.
I am willing to live with maps on IOS6 till apple sorts out the bugs but am really ****** off that apple
is delibrately holding back voice directions on iphone 4.
It´s a shame that a company like this goes for the easy solution.
Instead of aknoleging the problem with Turn by Turn Navegation on some countries where they publish it on theur webpage they delete them from the list.
This is a SCAM, from APPLE to their customers, not the company it use to be.
Hope it gets a lot of law suit for this.
its already october....still no turn by turn in my ios 6.0 they stated october be available

When Apple says "coming in <month>", like they said about iOS6 "coming in September", it doesn't mean the 1st day.
But yeah, they still s*ck big time with this one!
Guys turn by turn navigation voice is activated today. 2nd October. This is very cool.
