iOS 6 WiFi option is GREYED OUT (unrelated to iOS 6 WiFi connectivity issues)

As reported in an earlier thread, since upgrading iPhone 4S from 5.1.1 to 6, the WiFi option is turned OFF and is greyed out/disabled. Have tried all combinations of hard/soft reboots, router resets, network settings reset, cleared cookies, etc. Nothing. The WiFi option is completely disabled.

WiFi worked fine prior to iOS 6. Now I can't turn it on. My wife's WiFi is fine, she can toggle on/off and hasn't had any other connectivity issues as reported by others.

Ok so I just opened up an Apple id just to share my experience with greyed out wifi problem. I bought my new unlocked 4S less then 2 months ago, and suddenly it greyed out the wifi option. I updated it to ios 6.0.1 and still had the same problem. I tried EVERYTHING that was mentioned on this forum, including a 30 minute call to Apple support with no result. The Apple support guy made me do things that I did myself already, soft reset, hard reset, reset network settings etc. Then he said it is a hardware issue and I am entitled to a replacement. I didn't want to give in my $549 unlocked iphone which is less than 2 months old, for a replacement I don't even know if it's new, used or remanufactured. (In fact I asked the Apple rep and he clearly said the replacement is NOT gonna be a brand new one). I wanted to stick with my phone since I paid full unactivated price & have unlimited 4g internet.

When I was at work yesterday, I did a soft reset while my phone was being charged (connected to a PC), and miraculously it brought back the wifi. So far, it still has the wifi option as normal.

The problem existed for a total of 4 days. Now I really hope this never happens again! And yes, Apple should pay immediate attention to this issue...

I am also one of the usersaffected by this and find it amazing how this "fix" has actually caused my iphone to experience these issues. Who ever tested this? I am starting to think that Samsung is the way forward. Urgency needs to be applied to this issue. I also find it unbelieveable that icloud restores can only be done one way, through WIFI!!??

And the problem persists. My 4S was suddenly struck down with this bug yesterday - months after "upgrading" (and I use the word in the loosest possible sense) to iOS6, but now long after 6.0.1. It is scandalous that Apple haven't fixed this yet - or at least provided a facility for upgrading to iOS5 for affected users.

Remember the days when it was Microsoft that had the reputation for buggy system software and a "don't care" attitude to customers?
