text messages missing after iOS 6 update

Same here like umangpatel said all SMS with an actual numbers are still here but from organisations and adds without a number you can see them in the message list but when you click on one of them there is nothing in there

Same thing. Messages from bulk sms provider like organization are deleted but from private number all messages are safe. It does show in the list but when you tap on it and it does show and that sender goes into empty msg and you can find it at end of the message list.

I had the same issue with some SMS. I can see the preview in list view but when I tap on a message it looks empty (but in reality is not).

The good news is that all the SMS are still there although I cannot explain why some of them are not shown.

If you need them back now you can use iExplorer to export all or some on your computer, in PDF, CSV, or TXT.

Mine too .... in UK also. Originally lost all my contacts also but after going into iTunes and syncing the contacts with Windows they're back. No text messages though. And like many I need them. Stupidly taking for granted that they'd always be there, I haven't saved all of the numbers as contacts. Business related texts also! Why has no-one from Apple still been on to help resolve this when there are so many posts. Really putting me off right now!

I have the same problem, I upgraded my 4s to iOS6 and I lost the entire history of messages coming from my bank and credit card. I have always made ​​regular backups with iTunes, even before updating iOS.

I really hope Apple solves this problem ...

I am also facing same problem. Some messages are blank after opening even though I could MSG preview. One opened, the message goes to the bottom. Please fix this IOS 6 bug

Same here waiting for a fix from Apple. If not i m downgrading.

The bug is appeared on the latest iPhone 5 too.

Once you restore from backup, those auto generated SMS like adv, bank, with no number but organisation's name become blank SMS.

Apple please fix it.

I spent 40 mins talking to someone from Apple & he didnt have a clue! He said that the support team including his manager hadn't heard of this problem & maybe its down to my phone carrier.

I think, next who'll manage to talk to Apple about this issue should advise them to check out this topic. And search the internet for this problem because there are many places where this issue is discussing.

After updated from an local backup (1 month old).

I tried to downgrade first but iTunes keep giving me errors, I was very very worried because i've lots of important data on those imessages and sms's.

I quite relieved everything end up alright, quite a prank from Apple 😮.

Initialy my text messages were working fine. I added the emoji keyboard and even used it. played around with other features then went back to send a txt and the screen was blank. I tried to restore from backup (I have an iPhone 4 and have a pc running windows 7) and it said that it cannot restore from backup because there is not enough space on the phone. Pictures, contacts, emails, are all fine. I backup to my computer not to iCloud.
