After updating to iOS 6 iTunes Match does not load my music

iOS6 updated no problem on my iPad. All other apps working fine (although when are Google releasing YouTube and Maps! 😕)

I activated iTunes Match which was working previously fine, yet after upgrading to iOS6 all I get when I get when I go into music is the main screen with a picture of a cloud and an empty loading bar underneath. I have left this for an hour or so with no change.. I appreciate I have A LOT of music but this isn't right!

I have tried turning match off and back on, also rebooted the iPad but it has made no difference. Any one got any further suggestions.

I ended up doing the factory restore as new iPhone option through iTunes on a PC.

It was pretty painless really, and now Match works faster than ever. I think I cleared out about 30 apps I never use anyway, and I think a clean install of iOS 6 may be better than the OTA iOS 5 to iOS6 that started this whole mess in the first place.

The 4S works better than ever having been restored as a new iPhone. I reinstalled a handful of apps I use, entered a few passwords and gmail info. Too bad it had to be done because of Apple's faulty iOS 6 update, but now that I'm done, I'm happy I did it.

Thanks, this actually worked for me on my 4S! My problem was slightly different in that selected songs did appear in my library and were playable. However, many songs and artists were missing. Some playlists appeared normal and others were empty. After following this simple procedure my entire library from iTunes match is once again visible🙂.

If anyone is having this type of problem you might want to try this easy approach first. iExplorer is a great tool but it's not free, and it seems crazy to buy it only to fix a glitch. If you plan to use it for other things then definitely buy it.

Not only did I have the same problem with iTunes match, it was the beginning of a cascade of problems since "upgrading" to ios 6. After the iTunes match debacle, my phone informed me that my voicemail was full. There were 3 messages in voicemail. Then apps began downloading but never finished; I tried several hard resets and ultimately wiped the phone, all to no avail. It began to heat up so I took it to the Apple store. They couldn't get it unbricked and gave me a new 4S. That's nice, but I still can't use iTunes match.

Ahh a glimmer of hope soon to fade. I tried a full system restore as you suggested. After going through all the machinations, at the conclusion of what was looking like a successful restore I received a message saying "system could not be restored". Huh?

What is wrong with Apple? Why don't they fix this? I just paid $25 for iMatch and the friggin thing doesn't work. It used to work before i updated to this ridiculous iOS6. Steve Jobs would NEVER have let this happen. He hasn't even been gone 1 year and already the company legacy of making products that "just work" is already tainted.

Since I am desperate for my music and Apple doesn't seem to give a crap, I downloaded the Spotify app, replicated all of my playlists (and then some), and bye bye iTunes. I'll never buy another song from Apple again.

I am an American using an American iTunes account in Spain and was having the same problems. I turned off the cellular data and I still do not have access to my music. What I can't understand is why I do have access on my iPad. I've double checked the settings against each other and for all intents and purposes they are the same.

As I have no intentions of jogging with my iPad I would be appreciative to any other suggestions that anyone may have.

I am also noticing that the little cloud symbol is no longer next to any of my songs in iTunes. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything. I've double checked my iTunes account to see if my Match Cloud account had expired and I still have two months left on my subscription.

It's been two days and I'm at a loss.

I had the exact same problem with iTunes Match after upgrading my iPhone 4 to ios6. Spent several hours on the phone with Apple support... they had me do a full restore TWICE. Once from my home computer (Mac), then by installing iTunes on my work laptop (Windows 7). Everything they told me to do FAILED. I don't know why I waited so long to follow the advice on this thread, but I finally did this morning, and it worked!

- Downloaded and installed iFunbox (because it's free and I'm cheap)

- Connected my iPhone to the computer

- Opended iFunbox

- Copied the iTunes_Control folder on to my desktop

- Deleted the iTunes_Control folder

- Rebooted my phone

- Turned on iTunes Match

- Viola!!! It took a few minutes to connect to the server and update my files, but they were all there, FINALLY!

This is a MAJOR bug in ios6/iTunes Match. I can't believe there isn't an update or patch for this given the number of folks who are clearly having issues.

I'm normally an Apple advocate, but very disappointed in how they've rolled the changes for iTunes Match into ios6. Fixing what isn't broken is a risky endeavor. I was absolutely fine with how iTunes Match worked before - there really wasn't anything that needed improvement. Completely pooped the bed on this one, IMO.

Sincerely,

The Simonator

I used iExplorer and the directions provided here definitely helped to get iTunes Match working again (where I don't get the iCloud sign and neverending progress bar every time I open the app). However, I noticed that I have used a lot of storage space on my iPhone 4S. It showed only about 900 songs downloaded yet I have used a ton of space, so I plugged back in iExplorer and under Media Library, it shows that I have 1700 songs on my device, with most being duplicates.

Advice on clearing out the duplicates and updating the instructions here to avoid having this happen? I am guessing I already had the music downloaded on my device and then followed these steps, which somehow erased the iPhone's memory of what music was already there, so I had to re-download everything (and created duplicates).

What a PITA. So much discussion about Maps right now, but iTunes Match is a mess and the Podcasts app they released is totally unstable as well. Major Apple quality issues right now, which is really disappointing.

I had the same issue with my iphone 4 and followed the instructions to use iexplorer. It worked, but then my iMac recognized my phone as one that hadn't been synced with it before. My only options were to restore from backup or start as a new phone. When I restored from a backup the problem came back. When I fixed it using iexplore again, I had to restore again. I then restored it using icloud, but when I plug into my iMac it still sees the phone as new. Any ideas??? Thank you!!
