After updating to iOS 6 iTunes Match does not load my music

iOS6 updated no problem on my iPad. All other apps working fine (although when are Google releasing YouTube and Maps! 😕)

I activated iTunes Match which was working previously fine, yet after upgrading to iOS6 all I get when I get when I go into music is the main screen with a picture of a cloud and an empty loading bar underneath. I have left this for an hour or so with no change.. I appreciate I have A LOT of music but this isn't right!

I have tried turning match off and back on, also rebooted the iPad but it has made no difference. Any one got any further suggestions.

To Antgeez & eightcell:

Thanks so much! My tunes are back. I kept re-reading your post, thinking you must be PC users using Internet Explorer to fix this. When I finally had my " hit myself in the forehead" moment, I followed your instructions carefully, and The Beach Boys are crooning in the background.

Question: now iTunes on my iMac wants to know if I want to sync the iPhone as a new user? Is that OK?

Thanks again!

Well, I've had the same problem as many of you. I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and then **POOF** all my music was gone and iTunes Match did not work. 😟 I tried switching settings on and off, restarting the iphone, etc. to no avail! Then I came across this thread. I tried iExplorer. I actually had an older version which didn't open with Mountain Lion, so I followed the link above and donwloaded the new version from the site and replaced the older version with it. For me, it DID NOT work. I told it to delete the iTunes_Control folder but the process took forever and it never actually deleted. Strange. I had to force quit the app a number of times as I tried this.

So, then I tried "DiskAid" which is an app that can accomplish the same task of deleting the folder. I used this app and right away it deleted the folder. Yea! Then I rebooted the phone, etc. But, it did not fix the "no music, no iTunes Match" problem.

So, I thought. I am an American with an American iTunes account (iTunes Match), but I live in Japan. Hmmmm. I turned off my cellphone network in settings so I only had WiFi to work with on my iPhone and then started the music app. **BAM** It worked!!! 😎

I have used iTunes Match from day one and always in Japan, even though Japanese account users can't access iTunes Match, I could. Anyway, my music is currently downloading fine. I have now just turned the cell network settings back on and music seems to continue to download fine. The question is, will it continue to be fine or has Apple changed something to hinder my expatriate life. 😝

Maybe this will help others living abroad. Happy iPhone-ing.

So just to update my problem. I followed the instructions for iExplorer and this did not work for me at all. I resorted to a full restore. What a headache as it involves downloading ios6 and reinstalling again and then restoring phone from last backup. The restore fixed it fine.

I thought I'd pass on that restoring from my iCloud back up was disasterous. It just got stuck and kept trying again and again making no progress. I am on a 23Mb connection and this was at 1am when its usually pretty fast. Chosing the backup that was stored on my MacBook was much much better. Sitting through a total restore was awful at 1am ( I had to do it there and then as out the next day ).

This experience has freaked out my wife who doesn't want to move to iOS 6 at all now!

Hi there

I am also a victim of this mess. Your post and the solution described is much appreciated. I have solved the problem following your advice, however I had to use a workaround.

I had more than 17.000 songs in my iTunes Match data. Everytime I tried to delete the itunes media file iExplorer crashes, I presume because of the sheer number of little files.

In order to procedd I have simply renamed the iTunes_Control folder, thereafter re-booted my iPad and switched on iTunes Match. It took some 60 minutes or so and everything is back allright!

HOWEVER: how do I get rid of my re-named foleder that now uses a lot of space on my iPad?

Has anyone got recommendations, maybe for another file manager for the iPad?

Regards,

Christian

For 15000 songs:

Methods: Antgeez, "DiskAid," JpAppleFan

1. Turn off Cellular Signal via Airplane Mode

2. Turn-On Wifi

3. Download and install DiskAid from http://www.digidna.net/products/diskaid

4. Plug in iPhone first, then open DiskAid

5. Delete the File System\Media\iTunes_Control folder (you can copy it to your laptop, just in case)

6. Reboot the iPhone

7. Turn on iTunes Match in settings.

8. Start Music app

Steaming works. Loading time on large playlists is about 30 seconds still, but everything else works great!

Thanks all!

I was having this problem. So I used Phone Explorer to delete the ipod_control folder. This populated my iPhone with the playlists but they were all empty. Frustrated, I tossed my iphone on the seat next to me. The accelerometer function registered the phone as sifeways and suddently the coverflow view was showing my music!! I turn it back vertical, and it still said no songs.

So I turned it sidewats again and selected an album to try to play and it played! After this, when I turned the phone back vertical all my music showed. And it appears that it is indeed all my itunes match music.

However, as was mentioned in annother forum, the "cloud" button DOES NOT show next to each song, but only at the top of the album list.

Arnhem's solution worked for me:

1. Use either iExplorer or iFunBox. Delete the following files:

iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

2. I restarted my iPhone

3. Checked to make sure that iTunes Match was enabled in Settings/iTunes & App Stores

4. Started Music

At this point the familiar cloud appears but the progress bar actually progresses. All my old playlists appeared, the music was there and things just worked! Didn't have to Restore or even re-download my music.
