Did you set it up as new after the upgrade? Because both my ipad 2 and my moms brand new ipad 3 is running laggy on ios 6. When i do a reset it fixes it for about a week then back to lag in apps and even typing on the keyboard. Funny thing is my trusty old iphone 4 isnt having any issues with lag after doing one reset (higher rate of battery drain though) just the iPads.
No, I didn't set it up as new. I've been running iOS 6 since using Software Update on the day iOS 6 was released.
I'm not sure what might be causing performance problems for those having them.
Try holding the home and sleep button at the same time ignore the red slider button wait till the apple logo comes up ( really important) and let go.
Hope this helps! :)
Thats what Ive been doing Ahmed. It works for about a week then starts lagging again. I was thinking maybe its an app but its happening on my moms third gen ipad and the only app she has besides stock apps is some cooking app thing lol
No such slowdowns are experienced on my new iPad.
Perhaps you should check how much GB you have and maybe you might see which one has the most gigabytes and causing the slowness.
Im very dissappointed with iOS 6.... Scrolling isn't smooth, gestures are slow, no youtube for the iPad yet, Apple Maps is horrible and the worst part its slow, slow, slow and slow.... what a mess... and the customer service is not the same.... Steve wherever you are we need a hand...
I totally agree Dr. Mendez. Upon downloading ios6 I immediately noticed (after getting the ipad3 to finally connect to my router) was Safari was noticeably slower than before. I have noticed ever since ios6 that the App Store lags real bad, the pad is way slower at menial tasks now.
I have the 64GB cellular version and only 9GB are used.
There is no reason why the pad should be slow. If I wanted performance like this I would have bought a Galaxy Tab.
Apple has to know they seriously screwed up with ios6.
They need to fix it quick. I'm not spending anymore of my hard earned money on any other Apple products until they make right.
I started to notice very laggy keyboard operation. In previous iOS was ok. I have quite a few iPads and especially using the keyboard is very noticeable. It picks up the keys but it waits to display them. I just did what some suggested here, i. e. reset the iPad. The keyboard is lighting quick now. We will see how long that lasts
I have 10 gb available on my iphone 4s but everything still so freaking laggy ugh..just hurry up and fix it already!! Even I did restore, reset and everything, but still so laggy. Apple, please fix it ASAP!!
My iPad 3 was really slow too but I saw an almost immediate change by deactivating location services. Upgrade process turns on LS on ALL your apps and (I believe) they now run in background as well so worth a shot experimenting with. Here's the article I spotted:
I have just received my IPAD 3, the upgraded it to IOS 6, and I noticed a remarkable reduction in speed, and that is with the standard apps installed which cames with the IPAD3. It takes almost 45 to 120 seconds to finished loading up or POST operations. So I guess more work need to be done on this.
I'm having a lot of issues with speed on my iPad3. Every app feels like it's heavy and dragging its feet to load. Also, while using an app - and specifically when playing games - the game freezes for a second every few minutes, then starts again. I have never had this issue before with freezing games. In fact, I've always been astounded at the quality of graphics and game playing experience on the iPad3. Now it's just frustrating.
Also I cannot connect to some wifis, like so many others. I like to stream music when studying/working, and now I can't. It's frustrating. This is the case for both my iphone 4 and ipad3.
I have the same number of location services turned on now as I did before (safari, yellow pages, weather, maps).
I miss iOS5. I wish I hadn't upgraded yet. I wish I waited until an update to the update came out. I honestly don't see any benefit of the new iOS on old devices (the iphone 5 with the LTE is admittedly incredibly fast). Except the phone app looks prettier. And the mail app is a little nicer with "VIP" contacts, but it's not worth the wifi, new maps, loss of youtube, loss of gmaps, and the loss of speed, as well as a number of other minor deficiencies.
It used to be the case with older devices before. Apple's way of telling you should buy a new device. But with iOS 6 it's the other way around for me. On my ipad 2 and iphone 4 the iOS 6 is smooth as butter, but on ipad 3 and iPhone 4S it's just a slideshow. Haven't seen a **** like this even from google and Microsoft.
Hi from Australia,
I am sooo disappointed with iOS6 on iPad3! I have an iPhone5 on order but now wish I didn't because it will probably have the same problems! My iPad3 is now so slow with iOS6 loaded it is unbelievable! I originally thought it must have been the mobile signal but iOS5 operated on 4 bars and all the Apps opened quickly. Now it takes ages for Apps to load, Safari is slow sometimes to the point that the sundial is still revolving after about 10 minutes and mail takes much longer to load. I have been an Apple user for nearly 20 years and this is the first time I have ever seriously thought of changing platforms. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH YOU APPLE!
