Recently broke down and upgraded to iOS6 on my iPhone. The thing is so slow, my next phone will probably be an android. Press a button and it takes up to five seconds to respond, if it does at all. It seems to happen shortly after I press the Home button. It just hangs on the last thing that was on the screen before it went to sleep.

IMHO, this latest update seems to be more of a retrograde movement than an advance in the technology.

Epic Fail.

so being a new Apple user ( ipad ) does it normally take this long for Apple to respond or do they just hope we will all live with it.

All around the world ive heard nothing but complaints about the ipad 3 poor wifi connections.

And the only reply's i ever seem to read is from fellow ipad owners who come up with the same old give it a reboot and that should sort it out for a week.

I do wonder that if it was a car that kept breaking down and the only response was to get out and give the tires a kick and that should fix it how long would that car manufacturer stay in buisness ?.

andytvcams: Apple will NOT respond. This is not a formal support channel. At most, someone at Apple might read a few threads here and there, but they will not interact with users here and we doubt they pay a lot of attention. If you have complaints, send feedback directly to Apple via the comments/suggestions forms. Some can be found in the product, and others through their website. For iPad, go here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

HI what I ment and did not make it very clear was Does Apple respond to these problems.

i Know in the early days of Android if the manufacturer released a new update and it had a few faults with it they used to release a press statement saying they were aware of the problems and were working on them.

And if any progress had been made they would let the end users know.

Again, Apple will likely NOT respond.

As far as fixing them... That's a hard one to answer. They might or might not respond with product updates. Usually, if it's a serious problem that gets lots of publicity, they will address it. Then there are serious problems that get no publicity and go left unfixed (like the IMAP prefix bug in 10.8's Notes app).

If something is fixed, you might find a notice of it in an update "list of changes", but Apple isn't very specific or complete with those list of changes. They're not a very interactive company, in general. They've acquired a good reputation by generally a great product quality (barring OS updates, which have been mixed) and point of sales and customer service in tangible situations (software not being tangible). Otherwise, they don't talk. They have corporate policies of explicitly avoiding commentary or admission of flaws and problems unless forced to by media messes (like the Maps issue, which i personally had no complaints about).

Rather than doing a hard reset try doing the soft reset i.e by

Going to settings>general>reset>reset all settings. This wud not

Erase any data or any content. It wud forget the network settings

and turn off the location service. After doing that (which wud take less than

5 mins) you can turn them back on.

This wud definitely result in a smoother usage experience

and wud reduce the lagginess and the glitches in the OS itself.

Try this and then tell if it worked.

I have been experiencing sluggishness and slowness in iOS 6

as well. I tried the hard resetting ( pressing and holding sleep/wake and

home screen button). Didn't effect change at all. The hard resetting

Has more to do with hardware itself ; the wifi and booting stuff

and has little to do with software issue. Soft resetting does effect

Change on the system-software level.

I have an iPad 2 and decided not to upgrade it after reading so many negative reviews and warnings for ios 6 when it was released. Well, a few days ago a part of my screen went out, but luckily it was still under the Apple warranty (just shy of the 1-year mark). When I took it in to the local Apple store, I assumed that the techs would just replace the screen on my ipad, but instead they brought out a new ipad to replace it with. I knew that the replacement would have ios 6, so I asked them if they could just replace the screen instead. Unfortunately it wasn't possible so I took the replacement (haha, you would think that I would be happy about getting a "new" replacement rather than just a new screen).

Anyway, to sum this all up - I can't stand ios 6!!! It's A LOT slower and it's jittery. Now I'm just trying to figure out what was worse: having an ipad running ios 5 with only 3/4 of the screen viewable or having an ipad with a fully working display but running ios 6!

Although Apple's release of ios 6 was terrible, at least their warranty and service is great lol.

Getting pretty sick of it. Three major concerns for me

1. Battery runs down really fast. i.e. after 13 minutes of checking email my battery has dropped by 10%

2. Just slooooooooooooooooooooooow. Tap a button and wait up to 12 seconds for the phone to respond, both in apps and out.

3. WiFi. When I leave a wifi zone and then return, the phone doesn't return to the wifi signal unless I go into settings and select the hotspot. I can see this in a public place, but in my own home it is very frustrating. It uses up a lot of my cell data if I don't pay close attention.

I know that Apple has a reputation of excellence, but if this is their idea of excellence, they can do a lot better. I was never a fan of Steve Jobs, but since he died the quality of both the Apple iPhone hardware and software has dropped dramatically.

My wife bought me a cheap Android tablet to mess around with for Christmas and for a $100 tablet, it behaves better then my iPhone on iOS6. I am going to have to think hard and long about my phone selection at the end of my contract. If Apple doesn't start getting it together, they may drive me away.

BTW, their built in obsolesence looks like a losing proposition and my example of that is not allowing Siri on the iPhone 4 even though it has been jailbroken to do exactly that. IMHO that is merely a ploy to force users to buy new iPhones (but also driving them away). People aren't stupid they know when a company is trying to screw them. Try upgrading hardware on new equipment.

I have had enough of this now. I'm planning to go to apple store and see what they say.

Since 6.1 my wireless shows its connected but nothing happens. I have to switch wireless back on and off.

The iPad3 was flawless when I got it. It was quick, App Store was better, safari back buttons didn't disappear and I had no issues at all.

I'm shure they do it so you buy the next ipad because since iPad4 and IOS6 it has been nothing butt annoying issues.

Oh my AirPrint no longer works.

I have a Nexus 4 phone now and I'm seriously thinking of a nexus 10 because with that I have zero issues. Just to on for a £400+ device.
