iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6, Appstore Crash
I updated to iOS 6 and aside from the App Store crashes, my iPod feels a lot smoother in some parts of the OS. I love the new Music design, especially the Music player which looks amazing. The App store crashes are annoying, but iOS 6.0.1 will probably be out soon. .0 software always has issues. I use different platforms besides iOS and they all have bad software updates. That's just how it is. Apple isn't perfect, neither is Microsoft, Nokia, HTC, etc. They ALL have issues. Apple is the best at fixing these issues. I'm glad this update didn't do what iOS 5 did to my iPod. My iPod was so slow and my battery life was horrible. It got better after a few updates. iOS 6 is WAY better .0 software than iOS 5 was. Just be patient. That's all you can do.
That couldn't be more true that the iPod 4th Generation runs smoother. Last time I went to the App Store and did a search that gave over a thousand results, didn't make it crash. It even remembered where I was when I went back to results. So perhaps it's being fixed slowly from there side and may eventually get to all devices. My issue now is my yahoo messenger app crashing in the background if I stay signed in and do other tasks like surf with safari or look at Facebook pictures. That I'm hoping gets fixed with the next update
That is because iOS 6 uses more ram, so it closes apps to free up more ram. I noticed that with one of my apps too. It is not crashing, but being safely closed.
You're right. Not crashing but safely closed which I really hate. Your opinion maybe that its something that can be worked around so it doesn't safely close with the next update?
Maybe. The iPod Touch 4G only hs 256mb of ram and each version of iOS (5 and 6) have taken up more ram than what the iPod Touch came with originally (iOS 4). Maybe they will release an update to help with that, but I don't know. The new iPod Touch is going to have 512 mb of ram which will help with these kinds of issues.
Maybe, hopefully. Bugs me that it does that. That's really something that shouldn't be, and if its unavoidable with the new software update, then it should not be offered an update.
Waiting for the update!
Yes thank you for this help
I am very grateful!
Wonderful!! This worked. THANK YOU!!
Man you're lucky, I wish I could go back to ios 5. Most of my apps; usually games; crash, touch screen sometimes doesn't respond to gestures, I have experience UI glitches (note the time bar and keyboard on pics below), the phone has rebooted on its own twice since I upgraded. I have an iPhone 4 GSM. There was no benefit for this model to upgrade. I agree with samp2000 this update feels lazy "half baked" usually I just blindly updated all my apple devices because I came to trust Apple, but now I need to be cautious. So much for "it just works"
Thank you! This worked for me. The date change didn't work at all but resetting as you suggested brought to life my iPhone!
well, im sorry to say. I should've posted the fix the day i went back. I feel that all of this is too un-appleish!! I want iOS 6.0.1 because i want iOS 6's new features!
i have the same problem im trying to download youtube from the appstore but it crashes when i click the sarch tab. apple please fix this😠
Mine also crashes. It is really a pain in the... I hope they fix this problem ASAP
I think I found the solution!
I updated to ios 6 last week, and since then I had been thinking that my Wi-Fi picked a terrible time to suddenly be unreliable and slow. I hadn't been able to download consistently, view apps or itunes purchases, or even view content on Safari -- everything had been sloooooooooow.
Here's what has fixed it for me so far (and I apologize if it has been tried and failed by others):
1. Go to:
Settings --> Privacy --> Locations Services --> System Services --> [Turn OFF] Genius for Apps
2. Hard reboot.
And, VOILA! It has worked 100% for me. Everything is back to what it was with ios5 -- i.e., consistently fast downloads and loads via Wi-Fi.
I bet Apple internally acknowledges that Genius for Apps grinds the devices down to a halt, but won't publicly say anything because of the inevitable backlash.
Good luck, and I hope it works for whoever else tries it. If this has been mentioned before, my apologies!
