My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

They can ship it to you via regular mail! go to Apple Online Store and create a repair case.
I just checked my serial number...production week 37...sheesh.
Ste_shaz, my replacement is a production week 37 phone and it works perfectly. My original, faulty phone was week 33.
Production Week 36 (September) for my faulty wifi iPhone 5
I have had two phones, both 64GB black models one production week 35 and works fine the other is week 26 and does not. It has problems with WPA2 encrypted wifi. Both are made in china factory (c3)
How do you check the production week from the serial number? is it in the phone or is there a website where you can check?
oh to also speak as well - my serial numer = 35 week (production)
The last I heard.
The third digit is last digit of year.
Digits four and five are the week of the year.
What security settings are you using? TKIP or AES with WPA2??/
I'm having this same issue...super slow wifi if connected at all. LTE is fine.
It is already set to off and just not working. Its not that it drops off its that it works for 30seconds then stops! Not sure what to do really?
My http proxy has been off from the beginning. That may solve some problems but it's not related to this one.
AS SIDE NOTE:
I have a production model from week 36
Just set the http settings from off to auto and it all works fine!!. Maybe that will solve the problem for some of you?
I also had this off, and still had issues.
