Up until recently, i had many problems.
Ever since upgrading my home ios devices to ios6 wifi connectivity went to ****.
My imessage, itunes home sharing access (none, partial or messed up) was behaving erraticaly. My FT sometimes worked, sometimes worked in one direction, sometimes semi worked only if 3g and wifi were on, solo wifi didn't.
My apple tv, and friend's iphone 4 on ios5 always worked, along other android devices friends come with.
I pay premium for apple devices for them to work, like they did in ios5 version.i dont expect ****** stone age connectivity issues.
In my family, we have ipad2, getting a new one soon. Iphones 3,3gs,4,4s,and my new 5.
Iphone 5 was the worst. He started behaving first immediately after update to ios6 (this convinced me never to go for new release from you ever again! My friends stayed on ios5 due to maps, twitter working correctly - taking names of webpages as names for tweets, which mine doesnt, and you tube capable of background playing which I dont have anymore - thanx apple).
To repeat - all iphones and ipad after update to ios6 started having issues with wifi connectivity. I couldnt even open some pages here on discussion forums!!
Again - other mobile devices and my laptop, 2 PCs connected wirelessly, many friends visiting....HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING!
My friend's Mac air works too with everything on my wifi network.
Yesterday i went to a new ISP and got a new modem.
This new modem isnt yet in bridge mode, it has a dhcp for one subset, and my main router asus nt66ru has another. I even have both NAT services running.
NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER!!!
Obviously, some protocol in ios6 didnt manage to get all data through the old config.
PLEASE, FIND OUT WHATS THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT.
I am holding on buying new iMac and MBA for my wife which I love ( both MBA nad my wife, in different order), because I lost faith in your capability and a lot of technical reading i did (old filesystem on mac os when you had zte almost implemented, hardware problems, screen problems etc).
Not to mention having idiotic issues with voice memos that wont copy to iunes and syncing complexity, that i had to use iexplorer to extract because my lectures were recorded there.
Not to mention i cant use synology NAS 412+ to stream to apple tv, because i have to have a itunes pc on to ply from....
I am so angry at that and syncing which is also stone age...
Why cant we simply move voice memos as we see fit? Why not put it into music on iphone if we wish (we have to covert into mo3 first for it to work, crazy!). WHY MAKING SYNCING SO FRICKING COMPLICATED???
Anyway, please help us. Help yourself.
You are loosing your luster, and number of sales wont cover you indefinitely if you loose the love of consumers that you presently have.
Ps i have made many feedback posts, and in those posts i posted many times that in choice of OS on feedback form there is no iOS option. Please, for the love of God, make this simple change on feedback forms. I use ipad for most of web things I do. Thank you."

There appears to be a design fault with the 3 iphone 5 that I have had access to. It is unclear to me if it is due to the new back plate material or the antenna or a combination of issues that causes the iphone 5 to have significantly worse wifi connectivity than the iphone 4 and 4s (or any other phone!).
The iPhone 5 phones have been unable to connect consistently in the following locations: my home, my office, Star Bucks, Costa and Harvester. As I have several years worth of experience working as a network administrator I have access to multiple routers and devices for testing purposes. At my home I have tried 2 different Netgear routers, a D-Link router and a Cisco router. While I am able to obtain a consistent wifi connection on devices from Sony, Samsung, Microsoft, Toshiba and Asus, as well as an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on any of these 4 routers, 3 different iPhone 5 phones dropped their connections regularly and had a dramatically shorter range when they did obtain a connection than any other device.
I tested the phones extensively and found that the wifi appears to drop from full by up to 2 bars if you hold the phone in landscape, presumably in the position the antenna is being blocked by my hand. Additionally I have found that some external cases appear to be able to drop the wifi by 1 or 2 bars.
Now that I have permanently removed the protective case I am able to obtain wifi connection within the same room, which was not possible with a protective case. However on leaving the room or going to the edge of the room and holding the phone in landscape drops the connection. In businesses such as coffee shops where the signal is always a little worse than my home the connection is not possible on an iPhone 5, yet ALL other devices I have tested in these locations do not have this problem.
Although I have focused on the wifi experience, the data connection is also poor. The iPhone 5 is almost always on 2g connection; however, I do not have access to the appropriate testing equipment to prove that the intermittent 3g is caused by the phone or the network provider. Given that the phone has changed and the network provider has not, and the wifi reception issues it all points to a poor quality antenna or signal boosting hardware / software.
Perhaps I am unlucky and all 3 phones have a slightly faulty connection / network module which an Apple "genius" is unable to spot, or perhaps this is a major design flaw which deserves a product recall.
There have been 2 point releases of iOS which mention wifi fixes. As now work as a software engineer I am curious as to what possible software fault could cause the iPhone 5 range to be extremely poor? If 6.1 does not resolve the wifi issues do you plan to issue a product recall to improve the hardware?
Well, seems that I'm having this issue, too.
Everything with Wi-Fi was OK until Jan, 25 (iPhone bought on December, 21, 2012). My Wi-Fi router is placed in my bedroom and when I'm sitting there I have no problems (max distance between router & iPhone is around 3-4 meters). But when I'm going to another room Internet connection goes crazy. Wi-Fi indicator is OK (3rd level signal) but I have no Internet connection. All Apps are trying to retreive something from web, but it always fails.
Currently I'm at my office, working and trying to connect to our Wi-Fi routers. These routers are in 3-4 meters away from me without any walls or something on this way but iPhone is saying me that it can't connect to Wi-Fi network.
And yes, all other devices (iPhone 4 for the most part) connects to any Wi-Fi without troubles.
My problem started on iOS 6.0.1. I tried to upgrade up to 6.0.2, reset network settings, I made iPhone restore via iTunes, but nothing changed. I really hope that this is software issue because this phone was bought in the USA by my friend and the problem is that I'm living in Russia, so there're no Apple Stores. Anyway, I'll try to contact with Apple Support guys, maybe they will say something good to me.
I have the same problem. Wifi only works very, very close to the router. I had my iphone 5 exchaged once because of the wifi and the new one worked fine for 2 weeks before the wifi problem started again. Tried EVERYTHING, restore like a new phone, etc, nothing works, going to exchange it again. There is a serious problem and apple has to admit it. I live in brazil and i ll have to wait a week for them to exchange my phone. Very disapointed.
It is very uncertain if it is a hardware problem or software. If you are able, go for replace in apple store. Thats what I will do. Dont wanna wait for 6.1. I am losing my patient with Apple. You pay 700eur for "best f****g phone in the world" but you get a phone which doesnt want to connect on wifi in the same room. Very disapointing. So i will head to Germany at Apple store for replacement. I have spoke to Apple genius online and he said to go and replace. So, i will listen to him

Hey everyone, I just got my iphone 5 replaced after 2 tech calls and 2 grueling and infuriating trips to the genius bar. Infuriating because the phone, of course, worked perfectly in the store so they looked at me like i was a retard who didnt know how set up wifi. Just to be clear, I am not ******** and I know how to set up wifi and trouble shoot all the issues. The problem here, or at least with my iphone 5 was the software upgrade to 6.0.2 (supposed to fix potential wifi problems) actually started crashing Safari, which according to the Genius's is somehow tied into the wifi connectivity issue. Of course there is now way for any of us owners to determine ift hat is happening. The Genius's have to run diagnostics on your phone to see how its performing and what is happening to it.
So long story short, dont upgrade to 6.0.2, if you have and your stuck with this wifi problem, take you phone back to Apple to get a new one that is not running this bedeviling software version.
Also noted to me was that when you setup your iphone 5 you should set it up as a new phone, not from a back up of your iphone 4 or whatever you had previously. if you dont your basically taking the engine from your old beater honda civic and sticking it in your brand new shiney Ferrari.
After living two years with an iPhone 4's obligatory use of bumper (read antenna gate), I recently bought a new iPhone 5 here in Brazil, where it costs more than U$ 1000 (unlocked).
Almost the perfect smartphone. Almost.
Except the fact it has a weaker wifi signal than my Windows Phone from U$ 100. Also weaker than another Apple devices as iPhone 4, 4S and iPad.
I have tried everything you mentioned in here, since change language, hard reset, return to default net configs, and, then, finaly, restore to 6.0.2 iOS from iTunes. Same with my TP-Link wifi modem, I left it without any criptography, no security at all just to check.
Nothing helped. It has some wifi signal, but irregular and weaker than all my another devices.
Hardware or software (I pray for this) iPhone 5 clearly have wifi weaker signal problem.
I already wrote to apple.com/feedback and called to support.
Hope you do the same, so we can have a faster solution.
Last, but not least, step, if no solution comes out in few weaks I will prosecute Apple, including punitive damages, because it is always the same history, beautiful, usefull, but also problematic devices, and costs too much for recurring erros become acceptable.
