iTunes player skips songs with iOS6 update

I updated my iPhone4 with the new iOS6. Now my iTunes player arbitrarily skips songs as if they are not there. But when I sync, it shows the space being used by MUSIC. I tried removing all the music and NOT syncing music. And then syncing the music back again. That didn't work. I tried rebooting the phone.

Do I have to do a full restore (go back to factory settings and then restore from my backup) to get this working again or is it an iOS6 glitch? Thanks.

I see many people with the issue, but noone who has been able to solve it.

I do not use iCloud for music backup, I do not use match.

I manually manage my music on my iPhone.

I uninstalled my music, put on only 1 song, and still had the issue.

I rebooted the phone, etc etc, and still have the issue.

Essentially, the music player in IOS6 is unusable.

I have been taking my shuffle with me to listen to music.

My iphone music player works great. So the issue is not widespread and its probably just local to your devices. If I had to guess it would be something to do with the sync process (whichever way you did it) getting interupted during the music portion, so like another poster commented, it has the track info, but not the entire file it needs. A restore would be your best bet. Especially if unsyncing all music, and resyncing do not work. That tells me the data is "ghosted" on the device (which only a restore will fix.) Have any of you restored your device as new and resynced the data back and then tried? (restoring from a backup may or may not reproduce the issue)

If you haven't found a solution here it is:

While your phone is conneted to your Itunes click on your device. Go to Music. uncheck the title box sync music. it will ask you if you are sure. Say yes. Sync.

This will remove all songs on the device. Recheck they sync music and all songs will load back onto device.

This worked for me.

I am having the same problem with my iphone 4s after installing iOS 6. I have tried pretty much every combination of solutions mentioned on here and nothing has worked.

iTunes Match is not working at all. I tried turning off Match and syncing purchased songs to my phone. The songs will play for a few seconds or almost an entire song. Or not at all. Pandora is also doing something similar.

I tried restoring my phone.

Same problem on my new iPad. I also tried turning off iTunes Match in Settings->iTunes, but that didn't work. I tried going to my iTunes account from the iTunes Store on the computer, going to "Manage Devices" under the "iTunes in the Coud" menu and deactivating the iPad, but that didn't work either. In the end, what did work is after turning off iTunes Match in the settings menu, I downloaded one song from my Purchased Items in the iTunes app on the iPad and agreed to the new iTunes Store Terms and Conditions. I bet the new iTunes Terms and Conditions are what is causing the issues. I am wondering if this will be an issue every time Apple updates the iTunes Terms and Conditions?
