iTunes player skips songs with iOS6 update

I updated my iPhone4 with the new iOS6. Now my iTunes player arbitrarily skips songs as if they are not there. But when I sync, it shows the space being used by MUSIC. I tried removing all the music and NOT syncing music. And then syncing the music back again. That didn't work. I tried rebooting the phone.

Do I have to do a full restore (go back to factory settings and then restore from my backup) to get this working again or is it an iOS6 glitch? Thanks.

Well theres another badly thought out piece of software courtesy of Apple. Re iTunes

Had my iphone 4 for over two years now and the phone is fine, but the constant updating of software is slowly putting me off buying anymore Apple stuff.

Some people are missing the root of the problem - its not phantom tunes. All my tunes are on the phone! Its skips whole albums, only now and again it will pay some of the tracks its skipped previously.

They are obviously all there. Its Apples awful iTunes thats at fault.

Come on Apple sort it out. Steve Jobs legacy is not in good hands it would appear. Not to mention the maps fiasco!

Will take a look at a Windows phone I think.

I've tried every version of syncing, unsyncing, itunes match, un-itunes match... nothing is working. This is a serious oversite by Apple. I feel like its probably a really simple solution, but its not simple enough to see. I've signed every TOC I could find just to test out the theories in here. Not sure what I should do other than wipe my phone and start over... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I had similar issues, sync would hang up, then error message would appear saying that a random song would not sync, and I had to "kill" iTunes to get things going again...but not all of my music would be on my 4S...

The only way I could get this sorted was to NOT sync "all music", but to select "sync selected playlists, songs & albums" and then manually click on every album...then sync.

This seemed to work. all my music is playable on the phone now....not that I can hear it through my built in speakers, as these have stopped working....note to self, never install an ios update unless it's X.1 or later.

I have the 64 GB iPhone 5. There have been problems syncing to iTunes. The programme freezes and will not recognise my iPhone afterwards unless I reboot both the phone and computer. Also, once I get close to using the the full storage capacity, the music player goes crazy, won't play and scrolls through songs on any album. I''ve already replaced 1 iPhone 5 and fear another exchange is not the solution. Resetting does not help and BTW, I do not use automatic music sync, so unchecking as mentioned above is not appropriate. Apple pretends this is a unique problem. I would disagree based on the comments above. Any advise welcomed. I was a huge apple fan, but fear the iPhone 5 does not live up to their reputation. On another note - putting the headphone on the bottom of the device just shows that whoever changed the design is not a smart music user :-) Steve Jobs would not have accepted such an inferior design or product.

I have the same problem. I tried it on my purchased playlist with songs i just bought. It plays the first song then shuffles all the way till the end of the playlist. But when i take my playlist off of shuffle all the songs play. I dont want them to play in a specific order thats why theres a "shuffle" button on there. Another reason why i get mad apple tries to "one-up" someone and it never works

(I have found that if I removed all songs, and downloaded them again it fixed this issue.

Go to setting> General > Usage > Music > Swipe to Delete... This will remove all songs on your iphone..

Then go to itunes (Music not on this phone) Download all. (I would only do this on wi-fi))

I did this too and the music downloaded and played just fine. However, the next time my iPhone 5 synced wirelessly to iTunes, the content was once again missing from my phone.

(While your phone is conneted to your Itunes click on your device. Go to Music. uncheck the title box sync music. it will ask you if you are sure. Say yes. Sync.

This will remove all songs on the device. Recheck they sync music and all songs will load back onto device.)

This did not work for me. After I did this the songs that would previously not play on my iPhone 5 were no longer even visible on the phone. ITunes simply didn't transfer those songs at all.

I am having a similar issue. I have the new iphone 5 with the new operating system. I just purchased a new album on my mac power book and then downloaded it from the cloud and tried to play it a day later and non of the songs will play. The MP3 player shows the album cover, and all the info, but it will not play. Then after a few seconds it will skip to the next song and eventually make it way all the way to the last song and non will play. I tried to play another playlist set that I always listened too, but it skipped over several songs and eventually would play a song. Then if I used the next/previous track button the song I tried to play at first would then play. I tired other songs selecting by album and they did not play and when I tried a few hours later, the songs would play. However the new purchased album will not play at all. I turned off my iphone and no dice.

So I just tried to play the new album again (about 2 hours since I last tried it) and it is now playing. I did not do anything other then wait, so hopefully this will not happen again.

I have the Iphone 5 with the latest IOS update. All music is downloaded, not copied from CDs and up until recently, it's played fine but has now started skipping songs on my PC as it would when you play a CD with scratches on it. I have had the phone 2 weeks and in this time, the music has played fine on my phone and my computer until today.

I had this exact problem which extended into my other music apps. I removed all of the music off of my iPhone 4S via a hardwire sync with iTunes, then put it all back on again. Seems to be working fine, thank goodness, but I've never had to do this with an OS update before. Wildly aggravating.

Also, I downloaded the free song of the week (a Rod Stewart Christmas song, unfortunately), and was not promted to agree to a new TOS, so this didn't seem to be my problem.
