iTunes player skips songs with iOS6 update

I updated my iPhone4 with the new iOS6. Now my iTunes player arbitrarily skips songs as if they are not there. But when I sync, it shows the space being used by MUSIC. I tried removing all the music and NOT syncing music. And then syncing the music back again. That didn't work. I tried rebooting the phone.

Do I have to do a full restore (go back to factory settings and then restore from my backup) to get this working again or is it an iOS6 glitch? Thanks.

I just got the Ipod 5 and had the same issue as everyone else my ipod shows that the song is there, displays the album cover and everything yet when trying to play the song it skips it and stops at some other random song though i have not changed the track. I don't know if this will work for everyone else but what I did is I just took all the music off my ipod (I would suggest using your computer it would be much faster than doing it directly off your phone or ipod) and then resynced all of the desired music back onto the Ipod. Because all I had to do was delete it and put it back on again i assume it was just something that had to do with the file while it was transferring so it should be nothing big if you read this whole thing and what i explained to do has not worked for you i can't help you but I know this worked very well for me.

ok i have spent the best part of the weekend reading forums from all over the world. I have tried just about every thing mentioned in here and other places right up to completely reinstating my iphone to factory conditions and restarting. All music purchased through Itunes works fine now, however any music imported from a CD such as any of the NOW cd's imports to itunes, syncs across to my iphone but when I try and play them they just skip across to the next track and keep skipping until it hits a song that was purchased through itunes and then it plays it.

Anyone got a fix for this? you other fixes all work finr for purchased music but not imported music.....

Hey my iPhone 4S is doing the same things mentioned here with the song skipping though mine is with 320Kbs MP3's purchased from beatport they have always worked fine on this phone until about a month ago. They still play fine on my iPad and any iPods I've tried.. Not sure exactly what version my software is but I know that it's the most recent versions for iTunes, iphone4s, iPod nano, iPad2 so if the software is the same for everything the music files are the same for everything and nothing has changed why is my phone playing up!? Very frustrated at the moment!! This phone may not make it through the week if I can't fix it!

I have found that if I removed all songs, and downloaded them again it fixed this issue.

Go to setting> General > Usage > Music > Swipe to Delete... This will remove all songs on your iphone..

Then go to itunes (Music not on this phone) Download all. (I would only do this on wi-fi)

This fixed my problem!

Problem seems to occur when you use the editing features available in the iOS 6 music .app i recently experienced this issue when i was listening to the music app and came across some songs i no longer wanted on my phone i selected edit and removed them (about 6 of them) now when i select a song to hear it skips 6 songs previous to the song i want to hear then have to skip 6 songs by using the next button or fastforward button to hear the song i want. Also strangely when my music app reaches the last song in the playlist it starts to play all the deleted songs as if they were there but they do not show on the playlist. anyways im going to try un-synching all songs then re-synching the songs with itunes. This is a set back and from what i see a pretty popular bug that is going unseen.

I found this on another forum, and it worked for me

In my experience, the songs that are skipping may not have transferred over to your iPhone correctly. I would advise you to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).

Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
