iPhone 5 Not Working With ATT Microcell

This morning I received my new iPhone 5. I have an iPhone 4S and it was working fine this morning and showing the M-Cell symbol in the upper left of the iPhone 4S before I uathenticated my iPhone 5. The authentication with AT&T of my iPhone 5 went perfectly and I have phone service and all is working fine EXCEPT I no longer have the AT&T Microcell showing in the upper left of my iPhone 5, and I have a weak cell signal (as expected) indoors at my location wiith the iPhone 5.

Has anyone who has an AT&T iPhone 5 suceeded in getting their AT&T Microcell to be recognized by thier iPhone 5? If so, did you do anything special? My AT&T Micro-cell is showing all green lights on the front so there is no problem there.

This question has been asked a couple times but not answered: Is it necessary to switch off LTE?

The Microcell site says it only works on 3G and 4G. Following that advice, and instructions in the manual, I swittched off LTE, unpulugged my Microcell for 10 seconds and, when it came back, rebotted my phone. That worked.

But the question remains, was it necessary to switch off LTE. (Afraid to switch it back on while in the house, for fear of losing the connection again.) So, does anyone have an M-Cell connection with LTE on?

Thanks.

I tried all of the methods discussed and none of them worked (airplane mode, reboot, remove phone numbers from microcell, removed microcell and re-activated). Finally I turned off LTE and the M-Cell connected. I turned the LTE back on and the M-Cell disappeared. I turned the LTE off and the M-Cell connects again. I don't want to have to constantly toggle the LTE when at home or my office (both have Microcells). Does anybody have any clues as to why some people have luck with LTE turned on and others cannot?

Very frustrating!

I'm on the same page as bmac.

One thing people haven't mentioned yet is whether not they were connected to LTE before or during the experienced issue. I wasn't able to connect to my microcell at all before the deactivate/reactivate, now the only way to connect, is to disable LTE, which breaks my LTE data connection and allows the phone to look for 3G/4G.

At this point, I think Apple will need to release a software update allowing the phone to take the stronger data path. I currently get 1 bar of AT&T LTE service or if I switch off LTE then of course I get full bars of MicroCell.

When I enabled LTE in the settings on my iPhone 5, it did break the connection to the Microcell, and the upper left display indicator shifted to a poor cellular signal and 4G. At first I thought I was going to have to disable LTE in order to have my Microcell connected to my iPhone 5, however, after about 2-3 minutes the Microcell suddenly connected to myiPhone 5 (with LTE still enabled) and has been connected to the Microcell ever since.

When I turn off wireless in the iPhone 5 settings, the upper left display shows 4G (NOT LTE even though LTE is still enabled in the settings). I don't believe the combination of LTE data transfer and Microcell connected is possible even with LTE enabled in iPhone 5 settings as I don't thinkthe AT&T Microcell supports LTE. I am not sure why anyone would want to use cellular data transfer when they are on wireless and a Microcell.

You should not have to choose between having your Microcell connected or having LTE enabled in iPhone 5 settings. I have not had to do so.
