iPhone5 No sound unless I have headphone in 64GB

Yes, they tried software fixes but i think it's pretty clear this is a hardware issue, I'll have to make a genius bar appointment soon. There goes the 20 bucks I spent on my screen protector. :|

Really Apple? A brand new product comes out of the box un-working?

When i remove the headphones, and i go to test if a key click sound works, I hear a really faint "pop" and then nothing. Happens every first "sound" after removing the headphones.

Headphones sound works fine.

SOMETIMES the sound will work for about a minute.

I have the same problem. Brand new iphone 5 white 32GB from this morning. No sound from earpiece. If I put headphones or speakerphone on then I have sound. Doing software update but I also think its a hardware issue. That is really deceiving given its bran new. I will have to drive an hour in town to get to an apple store :-(

I have an Iphone 4 that i updated to ios6 today and I am having the same issue, and I cant get any other sounds such as keyboard clicks, text alers and so on. Sounds to me like its an ios6 problem.

I've been using my iPhone 4S with IOS6 ever since release. I've used the headphone jack a few times as well. I have had no sound issues. I still believe its a hardware issue.

I would like to say I'm fortunate and mine works, but that is not the case. If it was a software issue, and IOS6 was the issue, a factory reset would fix the files. Also, I have been making constant calls all week, and everyone can hear me clearly.

I will let you know, I am restoring mine in itunes right now.

I really hope it resolves your issue. It's discouraging to finally get your phone and have something already broken.

I have had this phone for two years and has worked fine up until I updated to ios6 this afternoon. I have no clue to be honest.

My iPhone 4 running iOS 6 doesn't have this problem.

Anyhow... I managed to resolve this problem just now using a q tip in my headphone hole. It's working just fine now and hasn't gone back to silent for over an hour. ****** way to "fix" the problem, but so far it's working.

Really??? I wonder I there's a residue or something in the earphone jacks. Can someone try this on there iphone 5 and verify?

I restored mine and it didnt work, used a q tip and its back to normal. you got to be ******* me!

Did you take the cotton off, or did you leave it on? I wonder if everyone with this issue just needs to give it the q tip treatment.

i took off a little just so it would fit in the head phone jack a little easier.
