Poor Battery Life iPhone5

I've had my iPhone less than 24 hours and have noticed the battery life is being depleted at a much higher rate than what I consider normal. This morning turned on my phone after turning it OFF last night and connected to the charger all night.

I adjusted some settings to match my iPhone 4 added PW's to some app's. After about 20 minutes of playing with my phone the power level dropped from 100% to 92%...no calls.

Anyone else notice poor battery life issues.........or do you thing that's normal?

I thought I had a bad phone or bad battery for all the reasons mentioned in the thread. I changed some settings based upon suggestions such as turning wireless and location services off and turning brightness down, let the battery drain completely. Still had quick draining and was about to report a "lemon". As a last resort, I went into my email settings and changed email "push" from an Exchange server to "fetch manually", and that was the fix. Once I changed that and recharged, it's now acting like a normal phone. Prior to that I was losing all battery within 5 or 6 hours. Now it's been an hour and a half, and I've only gone from 100% to 96%. Fantastic!

I'm now really concern about this issue.. I have followed many steps form this forum (reseting it, restoring it and using it as a new iphone, turning off LTE etc) but anything seems to work, battery still dropping way too fast. I guess I'll have to call apple support or something, it charges like in 40 minutes, and battery goes even when it is not being in used very fast. I have no idea what else to do.

Update: After I reset the phone the battery usage got better and I thought it was solved until i compared it with my Wife's iPhone 5.

Her phone is set up new out of the box, while mine is a backup from an older iPhone. She is a heavier user than I am and has more apps too. It takes her 24 hours to use up 83% of her battery.

Currently I am using 75% of the battery in 13 hours.. No games or videos.

I will wait to see if Apple releases a patch to solve this, otherwise I would have to restore the phone to manufacture and just get my contacts from iCloud... Too bad that will loose all the saved messages.

Hey Guys,

Wanted to update this again after a few days of testing different things. I did a clean restore and noticed a major improvement instead of using the backup from my Iphone 4. I was having some issues with Wifi Connectivity as well so I went to the Apple Store today.

After running some diagnostics the Genius reccomended I get a new phone because he saw some hardware issues. I am now using a brand new Iphone 64gb, set it up as a new phone and I have continued to have solid battery life. I can't tell if my battery issue was hardware/software or a combo of both.

I still denied access to different apps requesting location services and this has just greatly increased my battery life further. I think if a clean restore is done and no data from an old backup is used and you combine it with the other tips in the thread the problem should go away. If not clearly there is a hardware issue and you should go to Apple and get a new phone.

PS. Took 5 full charge cycles (phone drained 100% and then charged for 8 hours) for my battery to get to a solid calibration level. AKA no 30 minutes on 1%.

Ok, so today I went to an apple store and had an appointment with one of the geniuos guys there. There was some kind of defect on a chip related with the battery performance, so im getting a new phone. I would recomend then, that if you have tried many of the steps here and anything seems to work, go to a store and get you phone checked, you may have gotten a lemon just like I did.

I followed a lot of advise in these posts and have had this last result check.. 3 hours and 7 minutes of usage and 2 days, 18 hours of standy by a my battery is at 44%. I think I have found the answer for good battery life. I am going let the battery go down to 10% and see just how long that takes. Will post the result then. Thanks to all for the many ideas and suggestions here that have figured out most of the battery problems.

It would be better for all of us, if you told us what features you have on and wich you have off. I'm guessing that with nearly 3 days of battery life, you have many features off.
