Update your .netframe work to version 4 (see other help posts by apple support)
Follow the instructions on this link, basically un-install everything, remove programs that says they are made by apple inc. (using add remove program)
http://www.reimageplus.com/fix-windows-127-error/ (Many thanks to reimageplus.com)
You will also need to check and verify that the following folders have been removed:
dont forget to remove icloud alsoyou dont need to delete your itune music library though If any of these folders still exist, delete them along with their contents. (if you cant delete them, right click and go to properties and then security and change the control of the fold to you)do this for files under program files and program file (x86) on your computer once you have deleted everything, restart your computer. Then I repaired my registry using a registry repair program. Important:- instead of installing itunes I installed quick time, which installs apple application support (this is the corrupt file which is causing all the issues) i then installed itunes and it all worked fine, should take no longer than half hour to fix 🙂 hope this helps
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Okay ... so it does reinstall, but you get that message when trying to launch after the reinstall?
If so, a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related software components is worth a try. (The 7s can indicate trouble with other software components, such as Apple Application Support.) For instructions, see the following documents:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Hi there,
Earlier iTunes (and supporting applications) need to be completely uninstalled before you can install the new version. Here's the complete Apple info on this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Mobile device application will most likely fail to uninstall, so you would need to visit its location(s) and manually delete the files then folder(s). The location of the folders is documented in this link from Apple.
Hi Ktrainhurricane.
I am not sure what steps you followed (you replied to someone other than me). The nuts and bolts of it is this: Control Panel uninstaller feature can't uninstall the Mobile Device Application. I'm guessing this is somehow the problem with the install. What you need to do is go to the path where it is (find it in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) and manually delete FIRST the files in /common files/apple/mobile device application/ and THEN the folder (mobile device application) itself. If you try to delete the whole folder and files together it will give you errors. After everything is gone that is required to be gone in the apple support link, then restart your computer and install the latest version of iTunes. It worked for me, anyway. And others.
Absolutely brilliant, the only post of all I have tried that solved the problem of my error 7 (126) when installing itunes. Just get rid of everything apple and do as Flinneybee says and it works.
Gary
Flinneybee - you don't know me...but I LOVE YOU!!!! <3 🙂 Thank you so so so so much!! I have been fighting with iTunes for over a week now trying to resolve this issues, uninstalling, re-installing, nothing worked.....................UNTIL I found your post & it worked!!! Thank you so so much!
I tried unistalling/ reinstalling all the apple applications on my computer, nothing worked. For 2 hours for doing the same thing. Finally I found your post. It worked perfectly. Thank you so much Flinneybee! 🙂
Thank you thank you thank you!
Like some of these other posters, I wasted an entire evening updating/installing/uninstalling/installing and kept getting the windows error 126.
Your solutions worked.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Spent hours working on this problem. Started with Microsoft and went downhill from there. Not sure why this problem took so long to pop up in comparison to some of your posts but it did today. FRUSTRATION!
Flinneybee had the fix nailed. 30 minutes was just about right to fix the Error7 (Microsoft error 126) problem. Uninstalling all things apple and reinstalling Quicktime prior to Itunes did the trick. Should have started at the message boards.
Flinneybee, Thanks again.
Yes that works perfectly. Had the same error and after uninstalling iTunes and all other pieces of Apple software - rebooting - reinstalling iTunes - it worked again. All it took was 30 minutes ! Thanks very much !!!
I was a little afraid to try this but it totally works. Not only do I have Itunes back with all my content in order, but Itunes seems to run a lot better than it did before. Thank you very much for this post.
Itunes walked me through it
1. Go to control. And check to delete programs
2 see. If there is a microsoft.net framework
3. Right click and repair it .
Restart computer
If that does not work the remove all of the apple stuff
Restart computer
Go to www.apple.com
Download itunes there . Do NOT use any other place to download itunes
Note sometimes just repairi g that microsoft.net file does it.
Amazing, thanks so much for this post! I was getting the same error and nothing I tried seemed to work. I'm not that great with computers but I followed your instructions and now its working perfect 🙂 🙂 🙂
