c'ant open or reinstall i tunes is there a fix for this
No, follow flinnybee's instructions exactly and everything will come back. Worked that way for me, restored my whole library, playlists, and wishlists. Couldn't be easier...except if Apple had loaded the upgrade properly.
Thank you Flinneybee. Like others, had uninstalled/reinstalled a couple of times before finding your post. Took your advice with installing Quicktime first ... know idea if that made a difference but iTunes reinstalled like a dream.
Our first warning sign of a glitch was the update that didn't work, then different error message the second time we tried. Couldn't open iTunes for manual download as recommended by Apple's download service. I ran the registry cleaner to scan for issues but didn't clean it upon review, since issues would be rectified with reinstallation.
Further tip for others - there was an error message that MSVCR80.dll (or something like that) could not be found. This is to do with Visual C++. Don't worry about it if iTunes was working well moments before or waste time on it. Follow Flinneybee's advice, and the necessary components will be reinstalled accordingly. Library remains untouched, including playlists.
Error 126 came up when updating I tunes I tried everything took all afternoon. Until I came to this support thanks flennybee. It worked great! I uninstalled all apple made programs and then reinstalled. It works great
HEELP!!!
I have tried to follow the instructions I have read here.
But there's one Apple component I can't remove. Apple Mobile Device Support in the control panel under programmes.
I don't know what to do.
I have updated NET to version 4.0 and deleted all other Apple components.
What a headache since my iTunes updated 1-27 and stopped working! I did everything almost exactly as Flinneybee (PLUS had to go to support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall to get rid of that stupid Apple Mobile Device that refused to uninstall!!!!) . I also re-installed Quicktime first. When I re-installed iTunes, I got a "apple mobile device" error saying I didn't have permission or some crap (I don't use an iPhone, just my PC), saying it failed to install iTunes and nothing had changed on my computer. Was about to completely give up for good when I realized the Apple Software Update was now listed on my Start menu. So I clicked that, clicked on iTunes update, and it finally installed iTunes ok. I'm very thankful for all the tips here and there, it adds up to success until the next disaster 😀
I also used the CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ to fix my registry before I re-installed anything. That got rid of even more Apple/Quicktime crap that was hiding on my PC. Thanks again to everyone!
JonLeprechaun - I followed your suggested process and was able to download and install the iTunes update without losing anything in my library. I found your process clearly written and easy to follow. When I initially received the error measages, I thought I might lose everything, but after following your process, I was fine. Thanks.
outstanding flinneybee had this problem for days even download fix it programs nothing work apart from unistalled everything to do with apple and now ive got itunes back with nothing missing 10 out of 10 for you, you are a computer GOD !!!!!!
Yes, worked for me too. Thanks!! So, Apple's suggestion of updating MS's .NET Framework ignores the fact that it was their dodgy upgrade that caused the problem in the first place! Is that mentioned anywhere in their support pages?
OK, I may have a unique situation. I am on a work computer and we are using Windows XP (don't laugh). I don't have the 'Remove' option in the "Addor Remove Programs" screen for Apple components. I get a 'Click here for support' and the get an option to 'Repair', only it doesn't repair anything. I've tried downloading 3rd party software uninstallers but I get error messages that I must run them with Administrator privliges, which I don't have. Any suggestions? I have tried the iTunes intaller program several times, always 'removing' iTunes and then reinstalling it. It says it installed, but then I try to open it and get the same error message again. Any help would be appreciated.
I followed these steps exactly, installed QuickTime with no problem, and upon trying to install iTunes I got this message:
"Errors occurred during the installation before the requested operations for iTunes could be completed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again."
This is driving me nuts!!!
Hi Dick. I think "Apple" is a folder, inside of which are a couple other folders, and inside Mobile Device Application folder there are files. When I tried to delete the whole Apple folder, it gave me errors. I had to go down to the files within Mobile Apple Device and delete them first, then the Mobile Apple Device folder.
Thanks for this Flinneybee. I worked with Apple technicians for over two hours with no results. They had to go back to their engineers for more advice. I tried your method and it worked immediately. I shared it with the Apple technician in Orlando. She said if it works for other clients she will share it more widely. Great job!

Thanksfor your help. I have had long calls to Apple Support and they tried to get me do what you and Flinnybee suggest. However I could still not remove all the stuff due to problems with permissions. I ended up transferring the file to the desktop and thence to the recycle bin. On reinstalling Itunes it now works!
Hi
I've been reading all the posts and think Flinney Bee's solution is what I need. I have just installed the net 4 thing. But Im rather worried about uninstalling things as I dont want to lose everything. Also, Im not quite sure about the icloud stuff and think I may be realy stupid and lose the lot.
