No Audio in AirPlay mirroring from my mac (OS-ML) to Apple TV

I get a picture but no audio.

I saw this discussion:

No Audio when Airplay Mirroring from Mac to Apple TV

BUT in my case I can't change the sound settings to AirPlay.

When I click it with the cursor, it tosses me back to Internal Speakers, and won't let me select AirPlay.

Any suggestions?User uploaded file

Executing "sudo killall coreaudiod" in Terminal worked great! Exactly what I was looking for! I figured you could kill a problem process without having to reboot.

I have also found that forcing the switchover to Output "AppleTV" in System Preferences > Sound by holding the Command key down while selecting AppleTV also works.

The problem manifests itself often enough for Apple to look further into it and fix either the Mac OS, the Apple TV 2, or both.

I do have the same issue. "sudo killall coreaudiod" worked for. Before that I use to reboot my mac all the time but that is a pain and I don't want to reboot my mac/reset my ATV all the time just to fix to this issue. It will be nice if there is a tech support from Apple can look a this?

Aparently this disscusion has been there from 2012 but response from Apple yet. Do they really care about these comments in the discussion?

I'm trying to stream video from the web on the Mac and send it to the ATV.

None of this seems to work for me. Rebooted the Mac, restarted the ATV, killed and re-started WiFi. In fact, when I try the "System Preferences > Sound by holding the Command key down while selecting AppleTV" trick it will not accept it. It bounces back to "headphones" as soon as I release the button.

I haven't done the sudo killall coreaudiod command, but I'm honestly a little apprehensive about getting an unintended result.

Hey Guys!

I wanted to follow up on my original post about replacing my router to fix this issue. I purchased the Asus RT-AC68R (AC68U Online Equal) from Best Buy earlier this year. I got it all setup and have had the opportunity to work with the Airplay a bit and to my surprise everytime I flip my computer to the Apple TV to Airplay on the big screen the sound always works. I have not once had to turn off wifi, reset my computer or use the sudo command to get it to work. All of those options worked for me as well but it was an annoyance that I had to do that because it should be seamless between switching.

I have not yet figured out why using another router over my fios Actiontec (Junk) router made a difference. At one time the audio worked and switched perfectly and one day it stopped using that same router. I reset it looked at configurations and so on. Nothing that I could find changed. I got this new ASUS router not only does it work very well using airplay keeping everything seemless. The internet is much faster and there is a significent about of difference in lag time that i used to have (Lag is much much less.) I am happy so far if I find out more as to what may have been causing it I will let everyone know but as of the last 5 months this thing has been working flawlessly just in time for Yosemite to come out!
