iPhone 5 screen dims by itself..

This has happened about 6 times since day of release.. while using the phone, in an app, the screen will suddenly go to what I'd guess is the lowest dimming setting.. in the dark I see that the apps are still running, just barely visible. If I can navigate back to the brightness setting, the phone shows it to be at max brightness with auto brightness turned off... the screen stays dim until I move the slider.. as soon as the slider moves the phone lights back up...

I can't force this to happen.. it has been random.. but it has been at least once a day since I received it.

My son say his did this as well.. once..

Anybody else?

Don't take this the wrong way but at this time, no one here is going to determine if your phone is broken.

If you are referring to the screen dimming issue, you have 1 choice: Ignore it. This is affecting millions of phones and the only fix right now is to just ignore it. If your screen dims, go to settings---->general-----> and look for the Screen Brightness selection, touch that and your phone will act normally.

There is nothing anyone can do at this point ntil Apple fixes this.

1. No you do not have a faulty SIM

2. No your phone is not broken

The only thing tha a bad SIM will do is stop your phone from functioning temporarily until you replace it with a replacement SIM.

If your phone is less than a year old, it is still under warranty and I would take it back to where you purchased it, or any Apple store for a replacement.

Older than a year old? our phone carrier will probably give you or send you a new one.

On most carriers, call 611 from your phone (a free call) and their customer service can guide you.

@ Sefanopica1998 : This community is supposed to be a helpful support for technical questions and not a chat room where people spend their time chatting about topics that are useless for the community.

The last exchanges had nothing to do with the topic of the question which is a dispaly fading away. Nothing to do with SIM locked or whatever. Please respect the community and stop polluting this forum. Thanks !
